You also see police act in a aggressive/defensive manner when in an actual hot zone, like Ferguson currently isDon't be upset with the police, be upset with the people who have turned to violence and criminal activity as they were the ones who provoked this sort of response
That said, their militarisation is worrisome - I just don't blame the officers.
