A really good friend of mine committed suicide last night. He was outgoing, smart, hilarious, and in a relationship. I have no idea what the cause was.

If you're ever about to do something you know is wrong, something harmful to yourself because you don't feel any hope, please talk to someone. All of your friends and family will be wishing they'd had the chance to talk to you again.

People care about you.

Very sorry to hear that. Last 2 years I've been very suicidal, uhm, just sometimes the thought of hurting the people that care is the only thing that keeps a hurting person going. Some people can hide the pain well I guess

I don't really like bringing up the subject here, since this feels more like a thread that should have focus directed at you, rather than somebody else. But the subject hits home for me, I guess.

I've covered some ground with a doc over the past year. But they aren't quite the doc I need in terms of mental health. A few days ago, my doctor got in touch with another. A psychologist who's worked with cases like mine and has experience.

From just secondary descriptions of me, that doctor made a point that he was concerned. Apparently my mental health right now is critical.Dangerously fucked up. Long story short, I have that doc's attention. He's willing to talk to me on his own free time, and come down to meet me if he can.

It has me thinking though.

It's taken me years to muster up the right way to present how I'm functioning to somebody. Even longer to break through that wall in the way that always kept me from talking to people about it.

I sympathize with your point Turkey. And I'm sorry that your friend didn't receive help or indicate that he ever needed it.

When I had struggled with thoughts in the past, I told absolutely nobody I knew IRL. I did my absolute best to hide it. Maybe it varies from person to person how they display their troubles, but some choose not to at all and would rather nobody suspect a thing until it's too late.

I wouldn't say I'm depressed but I have gone months (and I still do) feeling like shit, but the thing is is that I didn't want to bother anyone over it because I thought it would be selfish and I didn't want to talk about myself.

I moved to a different state almost a year ago. Mental illness is incredibly difficult to recognize in-person, let alone over the phone. Either way, go fuck yourself.

Help is out there, even if it seems like you shouldn't be wasting their time with your problems - chances are that means you really should be going to have a word with someone.

My condolences. But it really strikes you from nowhere and can come from anywhere at all. I feel like the ability to talk with someone you trust without judgement is important. It does not matter how pathetic it seems, it could save you.
