I wonder why people will disagree with someone based on their reputation

Have you ever seen this before? I will see people saying that they disagree with a point because it came from a specific person, even if the point isn't invalid. I won't name specific examples, because that's irrelevant. What I want to discuss is why people will disregard someone's statement if it comes from a person who seems to lack credibility. This seems like clear evidence that bias effects the logic of someone's brain.
