Once again, to the people who think "but look at muh Switzerland" is a viable argument in any way: despite having a large amount of privately owned firearms, Switzerland has very strict gun regulations. As in, publicly carrying firearms is strictly prohibited unless you obtain a special permit that is only granted to people in certain situations, such as those working in private security.

Also, the reason Switzerland has so many guns is because their army is actually a militia. Everyone has to undergo military training at a certain age and is afterwards given a state-issued rifle that does not come with any ammunition and is to be kept at home while in wait of a military conflict.

Wrong. A permit is only needed to openly carry a LOADED firearm.  And while militia conscripts do receive a government-issued rifle, they can still buy commercial weapons. Plus commercial ammunition can be bought and kept at home. Before 2007, the government passed out 50 rounds for each service rifle for the case of emergency.
