Did Hillary really just win on a coin toss?
I think it was an analogy. I think those were just people going, not delegates. I think.

Three recorded instances of a coin toss deciding delegates.

Welcome to Iowa everybody. If Hillary wins it'll be because she won all three of those coin tosses.

I understand it's odd, but caucus's are literally different than anything else in our election process. We're talking about a place you go and bundle into groups as democrats and people come over to you going "ayy lmao, so wanna cum over here and support this one?"

It's not "lol democracy" because it's about as democratic as you get in this country.

But what people also need to understand, is that every form of government has its flaws. This is obviously democracies.

pity that trump didn't win tbh

but this new idea, I love it.

Replace all ballot boxes with coin tosses and who knows, we might have a 50/50 chance of getting a good leader

tbh if you didn't spend summer 2012 building your own fallout shelter you kinda deserve to be cleansed in nuclear fire

Us Sanders supporters should be happy that Clinton only won because of coin tosses. I think most people thought that Clinton would run away with the win, and she had to fight to the end. This places both Clinton and Sanders on an even level of viability. As s Sanders fan, this is almost exactly what I wanted.

Wow so uh, Clinton just barely edged out Bernie, Trump underperformed, and Rubio was a reasonably strong second-place loser. I could see Rubio becoming the nominee after all.

I'll go into more detail after my class, but short summary: Sanders is relying on a historically unreliable voting group and has yet to make strides in Clinton's key base - on the flip side, Clinton has a solid chunk of support, but she cannot crack into what have Obama his advantage.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
Even though I'm a Republican, I'm going to vote for Sanders in the primary so that Shillary doesn't win.

lol Iowa

That is all.
Clearly you don't know the meaning of a caucus and an undecided

I just find it laughable that when given the chance of deciding who could be the next president, people can leave it to a coin toss.

There were six tie breakers between Sanders and Clinton, and they were all decided with a coin toss.

[/quote]It's not. One caucus =/= the entire thing, and there are only 15 states out of the 50 that use caucus's. The rest are just walk in and pull.

And Iowa has always had this one off decision for a lot of people, especially republicans.

It was either that though or the people there being disenfranchised. No one said democracy was perfect.

I'm not saying it is; I'm saying I find it funny that an important decision is being left to chance. The fact that it's only a small part of the primaries which are themselves a small part of the election doesn't change that.

From what I've gathered, at a caucus people can convince others to chance their vote right? all they had to do was have a discussion, but instead they do something silly. I don't expect perfection or anything close to it from democracy, but decision by coin toss does defeat the point of voting.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.

The probably did have a discussion and each side wanted their side to win.
