The Crusades were justified by the standards of the day.

i can look through JSTOR for more accurate/reliable info but yeah to my knowledge there are a fair amount of roman roads still in operable condition. i mean you wouldnt really want to drive on them but they would work

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

A lot of History class is half-truths and bs.

I had to create an anti-Napoleon presentation with a group, and the teacher assigned me 3 pages from a text for reference. The other 7 pages were putting those 3 pages into context. In the end I found out more information supporting Napoleon than the pro-Napoleon group did.

yeah.

a lot of people, even honors and AP students, come out of high school with only a rudimentary understanding of history itself, and a pathetic ignorance of the various disciplinary frameworks which support the pursuit of historical knowledge. STEM kids who understand theoretical physics or advanced calculus but cant write a historiography or review an academic piece for shit. its sad, really... and the historical discipline as a whole gets a bad rep because everyone thinks of college as a job factory, and they think historians have no real world skills, so no one gets interested in history and they have kids that dont care about it and the ignorance begets itself again and again.

I like history, and the fact that a lot of people don't know much is probably because the teacher have to teach us this stuff because of dumb state requirements.

Hell, my history teacher even said that some of the stuff was bs.
