The new laws will afford the authorities greater ease in seizing passports and stopping people from leaving or returning to the country.May has admitted she wanted to impose wider restrictions on ISPs, but such efforts were thwarted by the Liberal Democrats. Save for restrictions on freedom of speech, these are mostly good things.

As for the ISP thing, that has to do with the government gaining more control over the internet right?
Why universities? At that age you should be old enough to hold whatever opinions you want (plus you aren't exactly a half-wit to get there, not to imply anything else). Too much moderation will just drive the radicalists underground, making any that are potentially dangerous to anybody harder to monitor and prevent if such a situation arose.Plus the definition of what is radical and what is A-OK is worrying. If I joined a far left society, am I liable to be arrested for radicalism? It may not be the case now, but with such laws in place it doesn't stop those in power in the future from pushing their thumb on parties to be judged "radical".

First you set the precedent with something universally hated, like Nazism and racism. Then you push and push and propagandize until all the naysayers are locked away. This is why we cannot afford to give a single inch of ground in the realm of free speech and expression. If you give the statists an inch, they will never stop until they have consumed you.
