“America is the land of opportunity,” “There is only one race, the human race” and “I believe the most qualified person should get the job” are among a long list of alleged microaggressions faculty leaders of the University of California system have been instructed not to say. These so-called microaggressions – considered examples of subconscious racism – were presented at faculty leader training sessions held throughout the 2014-15 school year at nine of the 10 UC campuses. The sessions, an initiative of UC President Janet Napolitano, aim to teach how to avoid offending students and peers, as well as how to hire a more diverse faculty.
Other sayings deemed unacceptable include:● “Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough.”● “Where are you from or where were you born?”● “Affirmative action is racist.”● “When I look at you, I don’t see color.”
For those of you who aren't in California, please note that the University of California schools are not the only universities in California - there's only 10 UC schools. The rest are either California State schools or private schools.edit: oh, this is some rightwingnut blog. meh.

Probably should have added that just in case. Thx. As for the edit: Guess if something comes from a conservative site that means it can safely be ignored. Whew. Glad I don't need to do any critical thinking here then.

The problem is that there's nearly nothing from a relatively-objective source on ithttp://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/jun/19/university-california-microaggression-faculty/http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/15/calling-america-land-opportunity-offensive-university-california-warns/http://www.city-journal.org/2014/24_4_racial-microaggression.htmllinking the actual literature on the subject explains why they're pursuing this a lot betterhttp://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/seminars/Tool_Recognizing_Microaggressions.pdf

How offensive. How dare someone say America is a land of opportunity. Don't they know people have feelings?
How dare someone say America is a land of opportunity
then you respond with "...no, like...where are you from" is just a shitty thing to do.
Quote How dare someone say America is a land of opportunityBut this isn't the land of opportunity. Not anymore, at least.

I don't know if this thread could handle any more retarded liberals, Mad Max already filled that job pretty well. Do we have any retarded independents to fill the quota?
