In a midterm election with an extremely low turnout rate, with most of the "picked up seats" in vulnerable districts to begin with.

The only thing you did mop up, if anything, was governor's races.

In fairness. The two biggest failings of Republicans when it comes to science is climate change and stem cell research. The Democrats can be equally disappointing when it comes to thinks like GMOs and nuclear energy.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson even went on record in '09 and said that the Republicans were better at funding science than Democrats and, broadly, the two parties' supporters have an equally positive view of science. The Republicans definitely have an unfair persona as the "anti-science" party.

I'm 95% against the death penalty. I only support it in the most heinous crimes when it can be proven without unreasonable doubt the person is guilty

I think you're confused. We know that it's human. It's certainly not an elephant or giraffe. The debate isn't over whether they're human cells, but if those cells are deserving of the rights of legal personhood.

So if killing a fetus is murder, is a miscarriage manslaughter? Obviously the mother didn't mean to kill it, but it's still dead.
