I disagree. Just like I don't need to have personal experience with many other issues to have a reasoned and valid opinion on them. Just like how I can support a ban on halal slaughter of animals without actually having butchered one myself, I can be in favor of certain gun control laws without actually having used firearms. I know how they work, how to use them in theory, what they can be used for and how they can be obtained. My personal hands-on experience with guns is irrelevant to the validity of my opinion on their regulation.

On the topic of the gun control issue: stricter gun control is the way forward, but getting it implemented in the US is far from easy.

You're consistently like, the most logical and rational person in this group. I love it.

target shooting is pretty fun.

not fond on hunting or anything, prefer tracking animals.

knowing I can defend myself is also nice.

The only thing I handled as a kid was a pellet gun. Not a full fledged gun, I guess, but it still had all the safety stuff behind it like most guns do.

My mom has taken me shooting before. It's not my favorite thing, but I'm not opposed to it. As I see it, it's like that one kid that ruins recess and gets it taken away for everyone. It's malarkey.

The closest thing to me using a gun was shoot cans and bottles in my backyard with my BB gun when I was a kid.

I've never held or used an actual gun.

A shotgun at a friends farm and than me and my brother went out to a range and shot a couple handguns.

I go to the shooting range with my husband. He owns 3 hand guns 2 of which are family heirlooms, but they fire just fine.

Went to the range with a friend and shot a Mosin that was supposedly used in WWII. Didn't expect the kick, but apparently for my shitty vision I'm a pretty good shooter

Only gun range

Shot a .22 pistol, three different .22 rifles, 20 gauge lever-action Remington, 12 gauge pump-action Mossberg 500, refurbished WWII-era M1911, newly-made M1911, .357 revolver chambered with both .38 specials and .357 hollow-point rounds, AK-47, AR-15, a Norwegian variant of the AK-47 with a folding stock used by paratroopers (that I forget the name of), .44, .44 snubnose, Beretta 9mm, and an M1 Garand.

fired rifles, handguns, shotguns at targets. never to kill anything. i have a shotgun (unloaded) with shells in my closet.

i would give it up if everyone else were ready for a ban. i do not have a super-strong opinion on the issue as i've seen convincing arguments from both sides, but i lean towards favoring bans.

I'm assuming an actual AK-47 since it's my grandfather's, and he's the one who also owns the Garand and WWII 1911.

I've shot guns my entire life and own a large collection of them. I love hunting, but there is no sport or range shooting of any kind her(the area being rural ranges makes little sense). I'm a pretty good shot too.

I grew up in a military family. My parents have guns, my siblings have guns, but I do not own one. I have also had one pointed in my face by a crazy drunk.

I don't particularly like them, or spiders, or clowns, or tiny bits of trash (like gum wrappers).
