"The report is full of crap."

That's what former Vice President Dick Cheney told Fox News in an interview about a Senate investigation that found the Central Intelligence Agency used brutal techniques to interrogate terrorism suspects and then misled lawmakers, the White House and Congress about what they were doing.

Cheney was combative and unrepentant, saying both he and then-President George W. Bush knew full well the techniques being used on detainees. Bush, he said, was an "integral part of the program" and "had to approve it before we went through with it."

Fox's Bret Baier pressed Cheney with specific details about some of the horrible things some prisoners were subjected to, including rectal rehydration. Cheney said what the administration approved was not tantamount to torture, but he added:

—"I have no sympathy for them [the detainees]."

— "How nice do you want to be to the murderers of 3,000 Americans on 9/11?"

— "I'd do it again in a minute."

— The CIA did "a hell of a job and they deserve our gratitude."

— The end "absolutely" justified the means.

So if we do to them what they do to us...how arre we any better than them?

I don't like arguments like that because they explicity focus on behaviour.  We, ultimately, have civilisation on our side and - generally - a degree of freedom. While the line gets blurred when you start using torture - especially for the sake of retribution - there are things far more troubling than torture which aren't criticised with such fervour by Westerners.

We aren't the ones trying to impose a warped, medieval value system - which already permeates far too many European muslims - and we must never forget that fact.

Friendly reminder that we should not try to emulate ISIS in any way otherwise there's no point fighting them.

Friendly reminder that these shitheads are not innocent civilians, they have ruined thousands of lives and have declared open war on the west. If they're going to harm innocent people then we will beat the shot out of them to gather information about them to prevent more of their shit

The reason why this is a big deal is the torture didn't yield any information and if it yields info it's falsified to stop the pain of torture.
