I agree. A newborn is no different than something like a chicken due to the child having no developed consciousness until it reaches a certain age. 

The academics also argue that parents should be able to have their baby killed if it turns out to be disabled when it is born.

To me this should be mandatory for certain cases. I find it inhuman to let babies live when they have server birth defects or they are servery retarded.
