for people who worship the constitution, liberals seem pretty oblivious to the 2nd amendmentAM I RIGHT GUYS
The constitution is not great but it's there for a reason- it's a way to hold back the inevitable waves of bullshit created by Democracy. The Constitution was designed by the founders to be the only thing standing between minorities and abusive majoritarian rule.Their mistake, as we today can see with our gift of hindsight, was allowing any wiggle room at all. The Constitution's protective armor has been peeled back a little more every year, and with dangerous populists like Trump and Sanders taking the lead in this election, we may not be far from the complete implementation of mob rule. The founders thought democracy was workable with some limitations. I respect their optimism and cautious faith in human nature, but the very nature of democracy makes it unworkable in the long-term. I don't blame them for their mistake, but I do wish it could be corrected.
