What kind of shit school did you go to? Castro was one of the biggest players during the 60s and the Cuban Missile Crisis.I feel like Deci not paying attention in class is much more likely in this situation. You're not one to talk if I did or not, Nuka.Seriously, the only thing world history talked about the most was World War 1 and 2. We didn't really learn jack shit about the cold war let alone the Cuban Missile Crises.

You were either skipping class or not paying attention during it to have missed the section on Fidel Castro and the Cuban missile crisis.
There is no shame in not knowing something, even though you really should have since NOT knowing about the one event that was a hairline away from sending the world into a nuclear war is a massive deal to not know, but heywe all have our moments

"The world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades," Trump said in a statement issued hours after Castro's death. "Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights."Trump, who has pledged to roll back the Obama administration's diplomatic opening to Cuba, said the nation remains "a totalitarian island," but he hopes that Castro's passing will mark "a move away from the horrors endured for too long, and toward a future in which the wonderful Cuban people finally live in the freedom they so richly deserve."

Half of them are saying asinine shit like "Muh Healthcare" yet a simple Google search for "Cuban Hospital" brings up some pretty bad images. Justin Trudeau, is the absolute worst, that man is such a massive fucking idiot holy shit.
What he said about reforms to education and healthcare isn't untrue - for a while, I do recall them being on par with many other Western nations. Not that he should be honored in light of his human right violations, but to say that Cuba became a massive, uneducated shithole would also be untrue. Trudeau also has a personal connection to the man - Castro was an honorary pallbearer for his father, former Canadian PM Pierre Trudeau. Not really a surprise that he put out a rosy statement.
They have culture, I will not deny that, something a lot of Americans today unfortunately lack. However going to Cuba is kind of like stepping back in time. It has stagnated significantly in comparison to even small/poor nations in Central America. I'm sure many Cubans would still flee the country even if it wasn't ruled by a dictatorship.
I also understand Trudeau might have personal feelings on him, but Canada has a pretty good education system so I'm sure at some point he has picked up a history book and wasn't in the dark about Castro's.....misdeeds. He could've been a little more ambiguous about his speech.
Though I won't go to the point of calling him a massive idiot.
I thought that before his Castro speech. I'm just reaffirming myself. Quote from: Icy on November 29, 2016, 09:57:34 AMThough I won't go to the point of calling him a massive idiot.
