I agree with this sentiment tbh. I mean, there's fucking astronauts who aren't even on this planet who still manage to do it yet most people can't be arsed to go down the street.

I mean, the whole mandatory voting thing is a bit too far but I really feel you shouldn't be able to complain about what happens when you joke vote/ don't vote (Yes I know that's not actually feasible).

The Electoral Collage was a mistake.

It's actually quite a nice system. Federalist pigs complain about it not matching the popular vote at times, but when you look at how the president is selected by the states themselves, and not the nation as a whole, as we are supposed to be a unit of stronger states tied together for convenience by a restricted federal government, with an emphasis on state individuality, it makes perfect sense.

All it means is we need to find a way for each state to maintain equilibrium in population somehow. That's the only way a fair election can take place.

The most populous states dictating elections is a misconception. They would skew the results to a certain degree, but California, Texas, New York, etc. would not "dictate" how elections go at all.

Personally, I would argue that the skew is small enough to where it really wouldn't matter if we went by popular vote.
