To sum it up in short, the colonials came in, ran over everybody and everything, really didn't care to put much effort in doing anything decent for the locals, and then set up shop on the south end of Africa, only helping in creating even more disparity after they left.

And they took just about whatever they wanted and sent it all back home, or set up shop.

So now you've got this sort of big divide where southern Africa is slightly more civilized than the north, but all intermushed with tribal customs and traditions and all that. And you've got these exlusive farms that don't actively help or feed the people on africa owned by companies, which instead ship their products out of Africa to the world at large to rake in the free money.

That, loosely, is the deal on things.

Depends. I could compare the transport links in previously colonised African countries to Ethiopia, one that was never colonised.

Basically, Ethiopia has fuck all. The other ones do. Not saying it's a fantastic thing to be colonised, but look at places like Kenya and North Africa, hell even Libya. They at least had infrastructure to be destroyed rather than nothing.

They would be better off as a country, but the native people living there? Nah...

Long story short, European powers cut the regions borders worse than a square pizza without regards to tribal relations and similarities. So you have two tribes that hate each other in the same country, hence some of the civil wars and genocides, and similar tribes separated. Same thing happened in the Middle East on some regard.

Not quite. At some point in the future, assuming we did recolonize the continent, Africa would have to stand on it's own.

Keeping the same borders as now, with the same waring tribes and ethnic divisions, would only return us to where we are now.

I was referring to redrawing the map

As was I. No one seems to recognize the need to redraw the map as we continue funneling money in, fixing nothing, and asking "Why will nothing work?"
