Do you feel like you live in a safe area?

I live, apparently, in a moderately rough area (for England) and as I get older I can certainly see why my friends say that.

After being stabbed a couple of years ago, and my subsequent dealings with the police, I don't have a lot of confidence in them. While you should always, on some level, be ready to defend yourself if necessary, I don't have any confidence in the police to handle an incident properly after in occurs, or get to me in enough time to ensure my protection.

So, whenever I walk to the local shop (which is literally just down the road) when it's dark, I always walk with my house key between my two middle fingers.

The biggest threat to my safety are deer on the roads, so I'd say yes. I'm far enough away from the city to not worry about certain people when I'm walking down the street at midnight to a different bar.

No. A damn murder happened across the street from me.. about 3 houses down.

Sort of. I'm in Student houses not far from the University so I see Uni Security and the Police wander down my street virtually daily.

On the other hand, I'm in student houses. Drug dealers frequent here as much as the cops do, and the occasional homeless alcoholic sleep in the streets here.

My town has had one murder in the last 20 years, and it was just two black guys having a fight over a basketball game.

Ironically, in a little over a month I'll be moving to a dorm that's had one stabbing and two robberies just in the past two months.

Yeah. I don't think there has been a murder in the last 50 years, maybe more.
The only action has been some attempted kidnappings and minor burglaries.

I live in the safest city in the US for a decade running.

I'm a pretty paranoid/skittish kind of person though, as far as I know the area I live in is as safe as any buuuuut I'm still wary of other people in the street.

My neighborhood is very safe. But I go into Fayetteville just about daily, and it isn't. Especially the part of town nearest to my home. Place is a mess.

Kind of, it's not that bad. Although every damn time a car slows down beside me when I'm walking I think it's a drive-by and prepare myself to run.

I used to. Then we randomly had 6 murders happen within a year.
That is unheard of here.

I guess, there are a fair few shady characters in and around the village, but I myself am pretty safe so that gives me peace of mind.

I live a away from the village down a private road, it's fairly easy to tell if someone's up to no good.

Yeah. The only big thing that happened in the past 7 years here was one of those "unmarked white vans" it picked up some kids (no one died) but yeah....besides that welcome to Ohio.

I live in a small town. We get the occasional people shoplifting but that's about it, unless you walk into certain parts of the town. But I think anyone with common sense wouldn't walk into a bar owned by a guy affiliated with the Hells Angels. Other than that I've only heard of one murder that has happened here.
