The only time it would probably affect me is if they were super religious and kept trying to convert/ hae a go at me. In which case I would avoid them as much as possible.

By and large, no. I try not to get too political or philosophical around my friends, and nor do they because it's not their interest to.

When people begin floundering what they think or believe everywhere it does give me a different opinion of them, particularly if they are constant or unfaltering even when shown evidence contrary to it, when they were the one to bring it up.

e.g. One of my friends is a devout Christian, believes in sex after marriage and all that. He never talks about it around us, and we don't mention religion much so it's not a problem even if technically we disagree over it. One of my old housemates is a crazy feminist, almost radical despite having shown her most of her reasons behind it are only existent in 3rd world countries (Meta's threads get credit for this). She doesn't talk about it much now, but at one point it was a serious problem between me and a few of my other housemates and we had to let it drop to remain friends. On the other hand, when someone has the exact same opinion of me, I have a higher regard for them. Not by much, but I still accept I have a bias towards them as a friend rather than someone else.

I think it's risky to outline how you think about things honestly to your friends or relations and what-not. It's better to just not make a point of it, although if they feel the same about something it can reinforce your friendship/relationship.
