Not really. I have a co-worker that's a super End-Times Christian that actually believes Obama is a Satanic Muslim and wants to get Trump into the White House.

But we're still good buddies regardless. We have a little debate once in a while, but we don't ruin a friendship over it.

None of my friends share my ideology. The closest they come is a few libertarians and a minarchist. The rest are liberals, and one is a communist.

We all get along fine. Political discussions are stimulating because the room doesn't become one big echochamber.

I would only be annoyed with it if it affected my every day to day interactions with them.

Having a debate with someone with opposing ideologies every once in a while is fun, but if it was an every day thing that somehow messed with the interaction? Hell no. I don't have the energy for that.

I suppose so, but broad existential senses.
There are a lot of things that I would and have had enough issues with to renounce relationships altogether.
Most of it comes down to imposing general meaning on context based ideas. This happens in all sorts of discussions mutually and in the metaphysics of language structure; across myriad human interests it's ubiquitous.
In some sense you could say my social behaviors are suspended until I'm able to communicate better, but my aim isn't sociability.
You could say my ideologies rely on not having relationships... kind of. At least, that's where they're heading?
Holy fuck this is really hard to explain (and probably because I haven't actually consolidated my reasoning on this).

No, as long as he/she doesn't try to argue with me about it all the time.

I'm not sure about romantically though (I've only had one girlfriend and that was in middle school). I would think that I could live with it as long as it doesn't interfere with our relationship.

Hmm, a while ago I almost lost a friend to my psychotic levels of intolerance towards alcohol. Then I eventually came to the realisation that given how it had already destroyed my family it'd be downright foolish to cut my best friend off simply because he enjoys alcohol.

Barring that one example, they don't. We usually end up in lengthy discussions about lots of super serious internet issues which is fairly fun in a weird sort of way, mostly because it's two sides of the same coin kind of discussion. I'd say we are both pretty close to the centre, I'd fall on the right side of the line and he'd fall on the left.

However, I doubt I could ever be chummy with a full blown radical/fanatic/ideologue over something I found pants on head retarded, like a Roger category MRA or a Feminazi.

Not really. I mean, within my age group, any Political-related drama would just look like a sweaty tryhard attempt to look sophisticated/relevant/intellegent/mature. Religion doesn't really affect the way I see my friends either, but I've never really been personally introduced to a person who openly had an ideology that conflicted seriously with my own.

Unless you're some racist, bigoted asswipe, or you're obnoxiously outspoken about your political views, then it's not a big deal to me. Stuff like that isn't all that important when you're trying to develop a friendship. A little more so with relationships, but even then the value of political or religious alignment with somebody your dating isn't that significant.

My girlfriend is a Catholic girl, albeit not that devoutly, but she still finds peace in the idea of God and heaven. I couldn't care less about it. If she's happy, that's fine with me. Am I expected to just constantly bombard her with questions about the meaning of life, or whether or not God is real? No, that's ridiculous. It's not something that consumes her beliefs and personality, and we never have interest in talking about religion.

It's something I deal with on a regular basis. How much of my myself do I sacrifice so that people will like me?

Normally I don't find many people who agree with me on a lot of issues so I tend to not have many close friends.

It's whatever though. I don't know what I would do with myself if my friend group was just a circle jerk of the same opinion.

Yes and no. I get along fine with most people, but when a clash of ideology comes up, usually, I keep quiet. A lot of folks up here, well, you tell them something even with facts and it won't register with them even if they're smarter than the average level of people in some areas.

So, generally, because we're not really friends, more like decent accquaintances it's far easier to toss one of those out the door than a friendship via debate or argument. So, in a manner of speaking, yeah, I do, funny enough.

You could say that my own ideology of not wanting to cause trouble keeps me distant from most people, especially when talking about subjects of polarized sides. But at the same time, I've no beef with anybody and they've no beef with me.

That's sort of my test to see if someone is able to be my friend. If I can mock their beliefs and they don't get bent out of shape, they're cool by me.

Almost everyone in my life has significantly different beliefs than me (of the people that actually have beliefs, that is). I even have some friends that can be pretty bigoted and overall are pretty terrible people.

I don't really care tbh. None of that matters when we're together.
