According to the epa, they rank 5th in the USA's top 100 list of green companies.Yeah, Wal-mart kills small business, but they are obviously setting the bar with environmental standards for companies around the world.

Of course, this is also a pretty good marketing strategy.

Too bad Costco blows them out of the water in the groceries department.

And the automotive and sporting goods departments in their Canadian stores are a joke. I guess they don't want to compete with Canadian Tire on that.

That's great and all.. but Wal-Mart practically runs by itself now. One store feels like it has less than 10 people, so little to no customer service.

I ended up getting winter tires for my car a couple of years ago from Wal-Mart (I still worked there at this point mind you) and got the lifetime warranty on it. However within two months, the tires were deflating (or one of them was compressing air like it was about to blow) and the metal wiring on the inside was poking out. I went to exchange them and use my lifetime warranty to get free replacements. However, the TLE department denied the warranty (even with my receipt shoved into their face) because they said, and I quote word for word, "Nobody would honor the warranty on those tires."

So I had to pay $200 MORE for new tires. It's a fucking joke, and I'd rather go to Les Shwab or some other big brand tire company.

If Sam Walton were still around, he'd be for higher wages, and he was a family man. But when he keeled over, his greedy spoiled children made the company public, sold it for billions (and they STILL earn billions a year with stock, allowances, etc.) and don't give a flying fuck about the people that got them there in the first place.

Some of their positions start out there.

Some as in not the stock people or the cashiers. The majority of them wouldn't be making a remotely livable wage which Walmart is more than able to afford.
