the article states Nusra (Al Qaeda) and Ahrar al sham (ideologically no different than the former) are responsible, what's new?

What's new is that these people were the so called rebels people in the West were supporting.
the FSA use to be part of the national army they were a bunch of divisions led by a few officers and had mutinied at the start of the civil war, shit hit the fan and now they're largely dead or have been absorbed into islamist groups

The FSA now only exists as an umbrella term for non al Qaeda islamist groups(mostly anyway), ppl who call for their support probably dunno what they're talking about

Two things

1. It's obvious the "pro rebels" are bad. I remember CNN doing an interview with some and there was one giant dude who would just beat prisoners, and they still tried to spin a good story on it. It was weird.

2. Why does it seem the Kurds are the only ethnic group in the Middle East who just want to be left alone and in peace but always have to fight? We support the Kurds and as far as I can remember, they've always been against any sort of real terrorism.
