Melbourne got like 8 suburbs locked down again because nobody was following social distancing after restrictions eased, leading to like 100 new cases in the city overnight

Had several friends die from this, none of them unhealthy people with medical problems and all of them around my age. Been working at a nuclear plant (Fermi 2) since this started as a decontamination technician, there was one death I heard about that had to happen for them to force people to wear masks. Now they're stopping all those procedures because things have gone well in the plant.


so tired of how this is all going, especially since I'm working with people who think the virus is made up so the government can take more power (nevermind the fact that they can always do that just by taking advantage of a horrible situation that happens naturally)

My sympathies about your friends. I've had a couple go down since this stuff blew in. Older folk but none the less a loss I didn't need on my plate this year. It's also mildly depressing to watch the various provinces of canada make their own stupid mistakes as they try to open up and start the economy in spite of corona still being active. It's baffling to me how people can't take a middle ground. So what if you don't believe it? You're somehow going to lose by taking precautions against viral infections anyway?

Nah, but I do know people in it. I think reactions and thoughts on it depends on a few different things, like economic class and age and what they're studying from what I've been able to tell.

I'm 2 months late with my reply, but I'm truly sorry for your loss. That's seriously fucked.

I am personally sick of living like this. I hope there's a vaccine for this shit soon enough or something. CDC's recent report said that only 6% died from just Covid alone, and the rest with Covid and other medical problems. Either way I think this whole thing is completely fucked up.

I've been working full time 5-6 days a week for the past 4 months now since my job reopened and there's close to a thousand people that work inside the warehouse where I'm employed. Man the fuck up and get used to it, you're not the only one that's working and there's millions out of a job right now that would love to have our positions. The world doesn't revolve around you and you aren't lucky.

The more afraid you are of this virus the higher your chances are of getting it. I still live my life and work like I've been before everything happened except now I have to wear a mask. Do I like wearing masks? Of course not but if its what I gotta do to get our lives back to normal then I'll wear one.

Just long enough for the 'normal' to be total economic collapse, and rioting across Western Europe.

According to most mainstream news outlets, vaccine progress is coming along at a slightly faster than normal speed so I'm staying optimistic about sometime in the first half of next year. With that being said, we're already in a somewhat normal world now; other than having to wear a mask and getting my temp checked daily, I've been going to work, spending time with friends, and doing my usual stuff like I did before Corona was a thing. Hardly the doom and gloom some people would have you believe.

yeah, even though my state just got 1300 new cases yesterday (the most since may 14), and the global death toll hasn't slowed down one whit since the initial outbreak, things have already started to go back to normal—and that's definitely a good thing

My state’s in pretty stringent lockdown here in Australia. Masks are mandatory statewide when going out and gatherings are strictly prohibited. The state captial (Melbourne) has even stricter lockdown than my area. I’m still allowed to go for drives so long as I stay in the car and don’t get out, and I can still visit my partner.

I hope the cases slow down enough to stop a third wave and ease the restrictions by Summer here in the Southern Hemisphere. Having a hard time with masks and not looking forward to dealing with that in record heat.
