I was in Thailand during Chinese New Year and like everyone was wearing those mouth masks. It was even worse at the airport. Crazy shit. We were both worried the airport would shut down and we would be stranded in Bangkok, but thankfully it didn’t happen.

My mom and I both got a smoker’s cough while we were there from all the smog and pollution, and whenever we coughed our airplane seat mate would pull her mask up higher.

The numbers we’ve been fed about the infection rate and death toll are likely much lower than the real number. Who the fuck quarantined off a city of 11 million after 100 deaths, an action even WHO was surprised by? A government that is lying through their teeth about how many are dead.

There’s also the fact that police suppressed a doctor who discovered the virus from talking about it and then he ended up dead from it like 2 weeks ago. That’s Soviet Union tier secrecy right there. From Hong Kong to this situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if a nationwide uprising happens within the next few years, I’d watch the news reports with popcorn knowing the government officials are getting pitchforks jammed up their ass.

The CCP is so concerned about the image of China, especially to protect the stability of its economy, that there is no telling how far they will go in oppressing their own people to prevent the rest of the world from severing its reliance and contact with them. They already don't exactly have a good track record when it comes to human rights. I could definitely see some sort of uprising against the Chinese state eventually resulting from this, especially if their economy does crash.

Born in Ireland as is my father, my grandfather was enlisted with the Russian Army and was present in Berlin during the fall of Germany before moving off to Ireland to get away from Stalin and his regime, he didn’t like to talk about it much given how brutal they were to the German citizens. Still have Russian relatives over in Novosibirsk (at least I think we do, that’s where my grandfather lived) but we are not in contact with them and never have been.
