I've gotten the impression that some conservatives do like government, perhaps more than they're allowed to let on, but they just don't like wasteful, bloated, ineffective government that exists as a sink of taxpayer dollars.

If conservatives actually had a rational platform based on efficient governing and spending, and steered clear of their god-awful pandering, I might be a lot more willing to vote for one.

The whole "Big gubbermint is bad" movement came when Reagan's dumbass was in office and he took apart some key government programs that fucked the country up.

He wasn't as great a president as Republicans make him out to be. Average at best.

I like to think I'm fairly representative of many young conservatives, and I support national gay marriage, access to abortions (granted, with restrictions), subsidized access to birth control, flag burning and public protests of any sort in conformity with local regulations, and increased gun control.

Proportionality matters because there is a difference between a slapped cheek and a broken jaw.

I don't condone male domestic violence, but it's a laughable non-issue when men are universally more abusive in terms of how much damage they do.
