Conservative artists?

Is it just me, or is the vast majority of art in the West created by people who lean to the left on the political spectrum?

They tend to be very passionate, liberal-minded, or progressive individuals who are dissatisfied with society or the world at large in some form or another, and seek some form of change--and their messages or ideals are often imbued heavily into their art, either subtly (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) or (Rage Against the Machine).

Most pop artists, if they happen to practice any politics at all, tend to be very progressive--but this is most likely for PR.

But look at the entire punk movement, too--extreme leftist ideology here, and blatantly so.

So I guess my question is: Where are the conservative artists? Are there any? Why does there seem to be so few of them? Am I simply just biased, and I subconsciously attach myself with artists to whom I can relate or agree with?

Maybe liberal artists just have that perfect storm combination of passion, creativity, and likability (no matter what your political leaning is, I think it's hard to deny that leftists TEND to be more likable/agreeable people) that allows them to make very passionate, creative, and likable music.

I know I've been referring specifically to music, but this does sort of apply to all forms of art. I don't see conservatives making movies, writing books (fiction, of course), making music, painting, or doing anything creative--and when they do? It... kinda sucks cock. So is it just me? Are there any right-wing artists that you enjoy?

Or is what I'm saying true, and leftists just happen to be more ideologically suited for art?

Very true, I hadn't considered that. Even still, I'd argue that's a very "safe" genre to be making music in.

I haven't seen a great deal of Clint Eastwood's films, but I would imagine that they would contain some right-wing undertones. Maybe. Maybe not, since he's still rather popular among even left-minded people, just because he's a delightful actor.

After George Bush left office, he just spends most of his time painting. He doesn't want to be bothered with any more work, he just paints all day. Granted they're not the best artwork, probably because he was watching Spongebob or something while he was doing it, but there ya go.

Reasonably so, but it kinda depends on what you'd call right wing undertones.

There is a lot of old fashioned stuff in them, and whether that's because of the era the films were made in or because that's his inclinations is up for discussion.

The cowboy films generally have a very traditionalist view of womenfolk <_<
Although John Wayne always struck me as being worse for that than Eastwood, again though films/scripts/era and personal views aren't one and the same.

Eastwood's films have conservative undertones in regards to 2nd amendment rights and stuff, but in regards to social subject matters I'd say they're pretty centirst in that they're in support of basic ideas and concepts that both sides of the spectrum can agree with (judging people based on their actions and not their race, overcoming prejudice, etc.).

Unforgiven is an amazing film directed by Eastwood that's basically an analysis of the spaghetti westerns he used to star in. The film examines the violence portrayed in them, it's affect on youth, and so forth. Really great movie.
