I feel like class based Affirmative Action would be much more helpful than race based Affirmative Action.

That is really the crux of the issue. It boils down disadvantage to only skin color when it is a multitude of factors. Economic affirmative action would be a much better way of up lifting people out of poverty.  The US has made a lot of progress since the days that affirmative action was first introduced and it is time it shifts away from being purely based on race. Race is still an issue in the US but much of what African Americans struggle with comes down to their cultural practices and insulated communities not white people keeping them down.
