This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Reminder that the states have no legal standing on the matter.
They can't outright refuse them, correct.
The state governments, however can be very uncooperative within the bounds of the law.

They can be as uncooperative as they want - the federal government is not under any requirement to take state's into account when it comes to processing and admitting refugees who, once here, can settle wherever they'd like.

It's not like Texas is going to have troops on the borders.

One has already put in executive orders to refuse it. If that will do anything. And they could still not allow anyone in, unless the government steps in and forces it upon them. Marijuana isn't legal under federal law, but the government isn't exactly stopping them. As another example, I think when the drinking age was raised from 18 to 21, Louisiana was the last state the raise it. The government taxed the crap out of them so they'd do it.

It won't.

The federal government would, and should, step in if a state is forcibly hindering or preventing people from entering a state.

Literally what are you talking about? Marijuana and drinking laws have nothing to do with refugee admittance.

Getting my point across. If they won't step in for those, why this?
Syrian Refugees should not be allowed. Only with very very thorough checks. And maybe not even then. They should also be watched for a period of time after they arrive and are let in.

Because they're two completely different issues. The only connecting tie is a state with different stance than the federal government.

It's for the refugees own safety that they are not accepted there. They'd probably get lynched down south.
Honestly, now that I think about it. It's better they not go there.

I'm pretty sure they're going to get hate where ever they go thanks to Paris.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
Reminder that these are not refugees- they are migrants.
Well we have to see, if the countries accepting them know what's good for them they'll send them back once the war has settled

If a state acts in defiance to federal law the military is called in.

And surprise surprise the southern states are the first to outright refuse.

Well looks like I'm going to be blown sky high one day.
Nah, if we're lucky, they'll take north Philly off the map.
I take it that's where the state is the heaviest in blacks?

I see no reason why we shouldn't accept a good handful of refugees from Syria. We'd probably just need to have decent background checking.

Refusal to shelter refugees is a federal power, not a state one.

All that the state governments can do is say "Fuck you," and not build accommodations for the people that come in.

In which case, good luck living with the guilt of letting thousands of people starve and die homeless.
