If google wants to see just how shitty sep7agon is, or they want to see me looking at YouTube videos, go ahead. All I use my email for is to make accounts on things.

Personally, I don't really care what information a corporation has of mine. I understand why people want their privacy, I just feel that these companies are using the information to change their products to suit their consumers better.

Also I don't think anyone has given a good example on why this is a bad thing other than "it's an invasion of my privacy" or "because they will know what I've been stealing from them".

No. I think it is deplorable, but my opinion doesn't matter, since the general populace doesn't give a fuck about privacy rights. See the "if you have nothing to hide" argument.

The big corporations know this. Just look at what Spotify has been doing. "Oh, so sorry for breaching human rights, allow us to clarify that we are -  but we're not stopping, though".

Sure, this will cause people to stop using Spotify, but 99% of the people using Spotify don't care that they have granted it access to their photos, contacts, phone number, voice and location (Yes, Spotify wants you to give them access to ALL these things, I'm not shitting you). They also don't care that Spotify is selling this information to third-party companies.

Privacy is going down the toilet. Soon we will live in a world where everyone has a microchip under their skin.

Most simply put knowledge is power, you would be surprised how detailed of a profile on a person can be created by knowing their online information.
YouTube

YouTube

This is quite a long watch, but it points out many of the concerns you should have when it comes to data-mining.

I'm invoking Godwin's law here, but the fact of it is the "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" argument is a terrible one and is the kind of propaganda that allowed the Nazi's to do what they did.

The fact of it is, corrupt entities have always existed and the more knowledgeable they are, the more powerful they are. I mean, take a look at the shit the US does with gerrymandering. They use the knowledge they have on people's political beliefs to redraw electoral districts to give a political party an unfair advantage.
I'm about an hour into the first video and can say that yes this shit is scary, but he didn't really tell me anything that I don't already know. Most of the examples he gave pertaining to social media were just people being dumbasses.

I understand that knowledge is power, and I think that there should be laws in place to keep companies from selling and/or sharing our information. However, this isn't going to make me paranoid enough to stop using their services or use a VPN on all my devices.

How can we trust you when you stuff your face with GMOs?

That is some blatant ad hominem right there.
