Paragraph 103 of Germany's penal code, on defamation of organs and representatives of foreign states, has the following to say:(1) Whosoever insults a foreign head of state, or, with respect to his position, a member of a foreign government who is in Germany in his official capacity, or a head of a foreign diplomatic mission who is accredited in the federal territory shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years or a fine, in case of a slanderous insult to imprisonment from three months to five years. The article dates back to the penal code drafted when the German Empire was formed in 1871, although at that time it just applied to monarchs. It has been little used in recent years and is colloquially known as the "Shah law" among German lawyers after the Shah of Persia successfully brought a case against a Cologne newspaper in 1964.A Swiss man living in Bavaria was also prosecuted under the article in 2007, after he posted offensive comments about then Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey on the internet.

I get libel laws and shit, but just tossing out an insult against a foreign head of state being punishable by law?

Sure Wilhelm II made MANY mistakes, like allying Germany with the Ottomans and ruining relations with Britain and Russia, but don't act like he intentionally set out to destroy Europe. He was overall an awful leader of the German Empire. The allies were the ones to punish Germany far too severely after WWI, and also the ones to control the development of the post-war government after WWII. The Bolsheviks were to be stopped swiftly, but the Allied Powers didn't realize this in time. Except for Patton of course. The current state of affairs of Germany, especially how their government is run, is because of the government set up by the Allied Powers.Germany sucks bitch

It does now thanks to the Allies.

Germany has always been terrible.

Both Great Britain and Poland wanted the war with Germany, and denied several peace offers. The Soviets were the #1 threat and should have been destroyed swiftly by all European countries.

The government put in place by the Allied Powers in Germany is killing Europe. Also, the Cold War could have been avoided had we allied with Germany to destroy the USSR. The Germans only made a treaty with them so they wouldn't be fighting on two fronts. That plan didn't work very well though.

Molotov-Ribbentrop was (for the soviets) a way to ensure the spread of Fascist lands only went so far east without entering a war prematurely. It's highly plausible, given numbers and military figures, that Stalin wanted to invade Germany himself after the western Allies had worn down or otherwise occupied the Wehrmacht. It's not like Stalin wasn't preparing for an eventual war, the early success of the nazis was because of the Soviet inability to properly defend their true objectives, as Stalin had bought Fall Kreml entirely. That kinda makes the Nazis buying Patton's Ghost Army a cruel twist of irony.
