The actions of Stalin and Hitler are not based on a religious teaching or inspired by their disbelief in god.

They are based on their respective philosophical stances, Marxism and Nazism, which are more along the lines of State-religions than actual religions. Stalin did not try to suppress religion because "hurr god isn't real", he tried to suppress it because Marx claimed it was a threat to the state. Hitler's opposition to religion, again, was based on his belief that it posed a threat to him.

They were atheists and they were evil, yes, but they weren't evil in the name of atheism, they were evil in the name of Marxism and Nazism. The same way the crusaders were evil in the name of Jesus christ, the same way Jihadists are evil in the name of Allah.

Hitler never actually killed Christians unless they were dissidents, so don't give me that shit. He needed the support of German christians. They were the majority. His hatred of jews was of their entire culture and ethnicity, not just their faith.

Stalin, again, was a Marxist, and that's how the fuck Marxism works. Marxism, like Nazism, is a form of state religion. It demands loyalty on the same level as a religion. It is by it's own admission incompatible with religion.

Hitler's own personal beliefs are also subject to debate, as he has made  conflicting comments, and certainly used christian imagery in his propaganda. I'd like to know which "historians" you're citing here.
