‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens
It's just some guys that had a disagreement. Nobody shot up the school. This shit happens all the time. The only reason you're hearing about it is because it happened near/at a school.

Quote from: MyNameIsCharlie on October 23, 2015, 04:27:23 PMI hate that we say ho hum, that's just life in the USA. It's irrelevant if this was two brothers arguing over dice, or if it was a mass shooting.I'm NOT saying ban all guns. I am saying that this is an issue and a discussion needs to be had.About what?He would have beat him or stabbed him to death. Obviously tensions were high and somebody said something he shouldn't have which caused that violence. This isn't even about guns. There's nothing you can do to prevent people from getting angry and fighting each other.

Quote from: MyNameIsCharlie on October 23, 2015, 04:41:41 PMIt's harder to beat or stab someone to death. That's a fact. Conflict is unavoidable, true. A fatal shooting is completely avoidable. What? How is it avoidable when one person is actively trying to seriously hurt/kill another individual? Again, there was no mass shooting. These guys were shooting dice and had some sort of issue, then shot at each other. They would have fought each other with whatever other means without the guns. They may not have killed each other, but it's easy enough to stomp on someone's head until they die. So I don't buy that argument. QuoteIf I were asked, I would say that 1) Any crime committed by someone with an illegal gun, even if it isn't used in the crime, be more severely punished. They are. They get a more severe punishment and years added for illegally carrying an illegal firearm. QuoteLike Manslaughter being punished as MurderLOLManslaughter and murder are two different things. You're not going to be charged with manslaughter if you illegally have a pistol on you and you shoot somebody. You're going to be charged with murder. Quote1. 2) A more stringent background check and mandatory training for gun owners that includes safe storage and usage in home defense and shooting scenarios. I had to qualify as a rifleman to be Army Infantry, you should be taught how to be safe and effective if you want to carry around my kids.I don't disagree, but I don't see how training is going to stop someone from getting angry and using his gun to kill another person.

All I did was correct the OP and you come in acting like I'm indifferent to gun violence and these mass shootings. QuoteI just wanted to point out that his was not a valid argument against those who have something to say about this. When somebody says, "we really need to stop this from happening all the time", to observe that "wow, this happens all the time" is merely to agree with their observation of the situation and not to make some sort of point. It wasn't an argument. I was correcting the OP. And I'd really like to see your solutions for gun violence. Because I can assure you, there's no easy way to solve this issue.

Are we supposed to not talk about it?There's nothing to talk about. Some people had a disagreement and shot each other.
