Genetic defects usually only appear after a couple generations of incest though, don't they? It doesn't excuse the practice, that's still a bit unsettling, but a third seems awfully high for a single generation of incest.

I have a relative who goes on about keeping the gene pool clean and how interacial marraige is to blame for the rise in diseases and points to animal breeding as a reason to have parents select who their kids marry. Fuck that.
