I thought this was very interesting, considering a lot of countries that have revolutions with the current government still in play, tend to celebrate it (more so communist/cult of personality like countries).

I think it shows China doesn't really feel they need to owe to what they were founded upon, considering how batshit crazy Mao Zedong was, and just how different the country is today than it was then. And also, ya know, the mass murder.

The ROC in Taiwan is China's legitimate government, anyway. Another example of the UN being completely lazy and weak to do shit when it comes down to it.

They're still the same scumbags Mao was.
Nah. They're not the best, but they're far better and more tolerant than Mao was. Mao was loony.

I mean I hate Mao too, and diaspora Chinese are best Chinese, but let's not pretend the KMT were any less barbarian-tier than Mao's boys were.
They had to perform the hard work of reuniting China under one banner, of course some of their tactics for unity were barbaric; they were literally fighting barbarians. The Communists just usurped power once the actual rebuilding was finished, they had no such justification.

Not to mention that the CPC used the Japanese invasion "treaty" as a way to accumulate land and power behind the KMT's back. They played a pretty much nil role in repelling the actual threat to China.

Kind of unfortunate really. Whether you believe what Mao did was right or monstrous, ignoring it isn't going to help people forget about it so easily. On one hand, them ignoring it is showing that they don't support it, but on the other, it also shows that they don't denounce it.

Yeah, probably because it led to what they are now though.

It's not nearly the same, but you don't see the US government going "Yeah our forefathers used some terrorist activities during the Revolutionary War."

Just doesn't happen.

lolwhat

the KMT was corrupt as fuck, that's half the reason they lost the war. The commies won over the peasants by helping them out and by contrasting themselves with the KMT who would happily take bribes all day every day. KMT was basically a bunch of warlords parading behind a nationalist banner.

It's so weird to me to find someone acting like Kuomintang din du nuffin. Usually it's Mao that gets defended.
I already fucking admitted they were corrupt. Learn to read. I'm just saying they were nowhere near as bad as Mao became and, unlike him and his party, had an actual right to the land.
