I never seriously considered Carson previous to this debate tbh. I also dislike Rubio less as a candidate as well; he's the most charismatic contender, but he has questionable stances on just about every issue.

I want a debate without Trump so that I can actually fucking hear Bush's stances.

I mean, the entire purpose of these debates is so that voters can have a better understanding of the nominees' platforms. We can't do that if they're constantly interrupting eachother.

I wanted them to bring that kid getting arrested for his homemade clock, but w/e. I mean they did in the first debate.

Well yeah I hate his stance on Mary Jane. It took a child almost dying and her father confronting him face to face for him to sign a bill to loosen his restrictions. But I agree with every thing else he stands for.

literally the only two guys that didn't have an emotional kneejerk response to foreign policy and use "muh 9/11" as a basis for their arguments

Rand's become anonymous with his campaign. The guy is polling at the very bottom of nearly every major poll, and it's feeling more and more like he's given up. He had some good lines tonight, but he was lackluster and stale. I doubt he'll be staying in until Iowa - same with Walker (Who will likely end up as Pawlenty), and potentially most of the junior debate.

Carson did fine enough. The guy lacks enthusiasm and charisma half the time, and he can come off as very monotone. He did better among the 11, but nothing that is going to help push him to even out with Trump.

Someone said Kasich had no charisma tonight--I don't agree, I found his elocution and general demeanor to be pretty likable. He came off down-to-earth a lot of the time. He didn't really have anything particularly witty to say, sure, but I mean...

So you're basing you're rating off of how they spoke and not their actual policies?

Also the lack of applause tonight shows the Trump hype train is over.

As a candidate, you have to sell yourself to the voters - especially when you are in an eleven person debate with limited speaking time. It's why Trump has so much support, and it's how Obama won - people don't want someone who is like a senile Grandpa in a retirement home on fourteen types of medication. They want a leader, someone who is energetic and charismatic - and yes, has good ideas.

That's how it is in politics these days, whether we like it or not. And it's not like we're talking about a Democrat and Republican in terms of their policies - most of these candidates, in some form, have similar policies. To discern between Rubio, Bush, and Christie is like dividing a hair.

Carson did fine, he's very intelligent - but he's not going to catch up with Trump, who is milking it with his charisma, by what he did tonight.

Agreed. A couple of the candidates that I thought made the most sense, I would say preformed pretty poorly tonight. Charisma means everything.

Rand Paul > Kasich = Carson > Jeb Bush = Fiorina > Rubio > Christie > Huckabee > Cruz > Trump

Because fuck Trump, I feel like this could've been somewhat productive and we could've learned something about Bush if he wasn't there.

We'll have to see how he fares in the polls later this week. He had a few good moments that will likely keep him in 3rd, so still alive.
