Um, the same reason they get paid less in the first place? Employers are sexist, they don't want want women working for them at all. They're not allowed to straight-up not hire them, so they pay women ludicrously less instead, to dissuade them from trying to interfere in "men's work".

Discriminating against female employees, especially those who are the perfect candidate for the job, literally makes no fucking business sense whatsoever. A meritocracy doesn't work like that.

What exactly do you think employers do all day? Sit around smoking big patriarchal cigars contemplating about how they can institutionally oppress more women, instead of you know, actually a running a business in a competent manner?

What I love about these articles and videos is that they always have a tendency to vilify women's choices in child rearing as if it's a huge issue that needs to be rectified.

If women want to see the pay gap closed, the onus is on them to evaluate their career prospects, not the government, nor men for that matter.

Didn't seem to vilify it to me? I think you might be reading too much into it. Seemed like a pretty straight forward explanation.
