Smoking weed for fun is all well and good, but the culture surrounding cannabis has turned its imagine into somewhat of a "party drug", which is distracting from its potential as a tool for introspection and emotional healing. The ten or so times I've smoked weed in my life helped me through my depression by forcing me to take a good hard look at myself and all the bad choices I've made in my life. It acted as much needed kick-in-the face to finally make some changes.

The people who claim that weed is just a drug of abuse used as a coping mechanism or a way to mask their symptoms don't really understand what they're talking about, if anything weed makes you more aware of your own insecurities and depression.
