How feasible would it be to change our username font colour?

Allowing users to customise the colour of their username? Perhaps once they reach 'Inconceivable!' or something?

I ask because it's kind of hard to see your name if you have a white background.

If they do implement this, I think it should only be a choice of black or white.

Or just don't use a white background.

One of my halloween themes had a background that was too bright for my username to show properly, so I darkened the bit behind the username a bit, the nameplate didn't look any different yet my username was perfectly clear after it.

Or just answer the question.

But why...

Why would giving people the ability to change their name to bright pink be a bad thing (given that it's easy to implement)?

In my opinion, it would make the over all look of the site a little chaotic. While customization is good, it can hurt the appearance if you go overboard with it

No thanks. It would just look awful.

Maybe for anarchy or something, but not for the mains.

There are already options to disable signatures and avatars. Why not the same for usernames?

Because, newcomers who don't know about the option might be put off by people with unattractive profiles. I may seem like an asshole in saying this, but there are a few people's posts that I don't read, or pay less attention to, because I don't want to look at their avatar/ nameplate.

Okay, I'll concede that hot pink usernames might be a bit off-putting for the sake of discussion (even though I think you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill). But what about just allowing users to change it to black or white, like you suggested? How hard would that be to do?

It's not a bad idea, but the issue is at the mercy of Cheat's apathy.

cheat may consider it too little an issue to bother

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

Two solutions to that problem:

1. Allow users to turn off custom username colours in the 'Look and Layout' options (make this default for visitors and newcomers).

2. Only allow people to use black and white colours.

there's one there already

look at byrne's nameplate
True, but you can make it more pronounced by putting it on the actual nameplate.
