The Flood / Oh dear
« on: November 15, 2015, 06:27:40 AM »

The sender is my gf, naturally I am blue.

I'm not sure whether to be horrified, impressed or just to actually drop my laptop. For context, she happens to be a weeb and a gamer, no she is not a whale and nor is ugly-quite the opposite actually. Quite frankly, she's like you lot

Gaming / About to start Fallout 4

Anything I should know? Tips, advice, anything interesting you've found or stuff to avoid and all that would be good.

Spoiler
Fun fact; for some reason all the bits in the case are in French. This means that I have a French 'survival guide'. Strangely fitting given recent events huh?

So; i'm playing Fallout NV due to the fact that i'm now on summer holiday and I never really played through the game as I was meant to. But you see i'm at a crucial moment and i'm stuck, i'm a nobody.

Name suggestions are needed, i'll go with whatever suggestion is the most popular-for both Fallout NV and for when I get Fallout 4. Go

Gaming / Activision's getting worse than EA
« on: July 14, 2015, 01:28:45 PM »

Get the fuck out Activision. They seriously believe they can justify getting people to pay £40 for two old games and their dlc? It's not even as if they're remastered, it's not even as if they have got the same optimisation treatment Halo 3 and 4 got in the MCC.

What's more, this comes at a time when these games really should be part of the XB1 backwards compatibility program in the next year or so. Oh wait; some bright spark at Activision thought it would be a great plan to try and squeeze as much money from these two games before they became available for free (or not allow them into the program-which they'd never do due to the bad publicity that'd generate for a publisher already under-fire)

And for any Americans that this isn't resonating with due to monetary considerations, £40 is exactly $62.50

Gaming / Anyone want a Rainbow Six beta code?
« on: July 08, 2015, 02:04:26 PM »
When I signed up I referred myself for a beta code, to increase the odds of me actually getting one and it turns out that both requests were granted. This means I have an extra code which can be redeemed on the site for a platform of your choice (PC/PS4/XB1)

So, if anyone's interested tell me and i'll PM you-first come first serve.

That's it, i'm going to stick my neck out and say that in the coming years this is going to develop into a common or at least uncommon feature of games. When you have a company like Bethesda that does something new everyone is going to want to jump on the bandwagon to maximise exposure and reach.

It was only a matter of time before someone else announced they were mulling over a similar system, and that's not a bad thing at all imo

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/people-can-fly-turns-independent-buys-bulletstorm-/1100-6428420/

Looks like we may get a Bulletstorm 2 after all. The first Bulletstorm is so unbelievably brilliant and fun to play, it's got the best gameplay of an shooter i've played and it ended on quite the cliffhanger. It had got to the point where a sequel was looking impossible and yet, salvation.

Of course it's entirely possible they're going to work on something else, but they have bought the IP and in the interviews that various people from the studio had given previously  they all seemed pretty keen on a sequel.

If you've not yet seen the E3 trailer than you can above. Personally I think that this is going to be one of the best and under-appreciated games this year, Absolution did a lot of good things but i'm glad the I/O have decided to hammer home the focus on open-ended approaches and freedom of expression.

It seems as though the trailer is truthful, what it promises really does appear to be happening. If it can deliver on the promise of the trailer, the dev's promises and the first impressions from the media than this game will be a great deal of fun indeed.

Another one to add to the list, just behind Halo 5 and Fallout 4

Gaming / Fable beta launching this weekend
« on: June 11, 2015, 06:27:05 PM »

It seems like forever ago that I signed up for the closed beta, but it's finally here. I'll be sure to inform you as to whether it's shit or not; the series has a bad name right now and Fable 3 is one of the shittiest games I remember playing on the 360 so i'm curious as to what this will be like.

Thoughts on it? Anyone else signed up?

*masculine rage intensifies*

Just joking, they're 22 years late on this one. I don't care if the players have tits or balls (badum dsst) if they are footballers then they should be in a game meant to be everything football is.

Plus, women have played a vital role in football's history (such as that historic game in Crouch end)

Dead on 80 hours, which is a flawless match for what CDPR said.

I must say that it's probably the best game i've ever played; the last game I can remember to have such a high level of quality and even come close to the level of quantity was AC2-and that was a long while ago, plus the game pales in comparison now.

You know a great game when you've finished it, and you feel a bit empty inside. And that's very much case with this game, no matter what criticisms you may have-you'll feel at a loss when your adventure has drawn to a conclusion.

I think i've got the best ending, and probably close to the best end-state and so as a result I can only offer my sympathies to anyone that is unfortunate to finish on one the less desirable endings-that's got to suck

Whatever the case, i'm just happy that CDPR is releasing tons of new free content and i'll probably be purchasing the expansion pass closer to release. What's more i'll be eagerly awaiting Cyberpunk 2077-CDPR is only improving and they seem to genuinely care about games rather than money.

10/10 will immediately replay 10 times to explore all the various outcomes.

Post em.

Despite the frequency of Lemon's anti-Witcher-graphics posts they really are still amazing on any platform.

"where you engage in huge Starfighter battles over canyons big enough to be truly epic. Then, for those not in the mood for large scale battles, we have created Missions where players can, for example, take on armies of AI or test their piloting skills. All our Missions can be played either alone or cooperatively, making them perfect for some quick Star Wars action when you have a friend over."

http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/dear-galaxy

I feel moderately happier about the game now, I actually hated space battles anyways so the news that there is still a fighter-based mode that's actually got an interesting map is great. Plus it sounds like they have tried to shape their own version of instant action; whatever, it's got split-screen so that's brilliant for me.

Thoughts? At least EAids isn't charging for aerial battles a la BF4

But that's consistently brilliant scoring, and it's exactly as we had all hoped it would be. If they are right then my smugness levels will have reached new heights what with pre-ordering it almost a month pre-release for pre-loading.

Gaming / I have now finished The Old Blood
« on: May 06, 2015, 03:19:09 PM »
And it was superb, not quite as stunning as the original overall but it's certainly far off. The story was just as moving as New Order and took somewhat of an unexpected turn during the second chapter (I won't spoil anything, but if you've been wondering when you'd see something supernatural...); the gameplay is still immensely satisfying and the pipes provide wonderfully visceral stealth kills whilst serving their purpose in map exploration and traversal and all the new weapons are on par with those found in The New Order.

It's just a great experience, and perhaps superior to The New Order in how it strays more towards Raiders of the lost ark (MG mentioned going for a deliberate 'B movie' approach to the expansion specifically beforehand, notably) than any traditional videogame portrayal of Nazis and Co. It's worth the £15, and it's as simple as that.

If Machine games can continue in this type of form then the next Wolfenstein will be special. And maybe, hopefully one day Bethesda will task them with the creation of the next Fallout; who better to resurrect an alternate history based game based upon the sci-fi of the era with the right mix of supernatural, gore and (plenty of) exploration?

But seriously, there are a lot of easter eggs in this wonderful game (expansion).

Anyone else playing Wolfenstein: The Old Blood? It's only £15 and it doesn't require New Order to play either.

When and if that will happen is impossible for me to say, but no, we’re not saying that space battles are evil and that we will never, ever touch them with a ten-foot pole.

What you see in DLC is sometimes the result of things that you started thinking during the latter part of development.

That's as close a confirmation as you'll get for a year at least. I'm sorry to jump to conclusions but surely this can't be a coincidence that they've noticed the back-lash ("thinking during the latter part of development") and now plan to release it as DLC.

I suppose this is a good thing, hopefully the corporate moneygrabbers are starting to realise that what they've been playing at has gotten beyond tolerable. It's a significant dent in the numbers, another year of this and they will be forced to re-consider their position.

Gaming / New Mad Max trailer
« on: April 23, 2015, 03:29:02 PM »
http://youtu.be/9hDPmTvqob0

This is all in-engine, from gameplay and cutscenes. Damn it looks fantastic, not just the graphics but the sheer beauty of it. The way your car collides with others, the combat... It looks seriously meaty and great fun, WB have a good history with franchise games at this point (Batman, SoM, etc..), and as this looks like it uses a similar combat system and of course is in the vein of both of them.

I think this is going to be one to watch, it'll slip under the radar just as SoM did (mostly) but I reckon this will be a great little game.

Gaming / First (?) image of Battlefront actually being played
« on: April 22, 2015, 01:55:33 PM »

Terribly sorry about the poor resolution, but it's how it is in the original video

It would seem this is from the local co-op missions that Dice have talked about, showcasing both the 3rd and 1st person perspectives. It looks stunning-even at low-res and decidedly un-Battlefield, which is surprising.

I'm not sure if i'm slow on this image, the video was posted yesterday but i've not seen anything about it and everyone was moaning about the trailer being pre-remdered so...

Yes, I know >Polygon

But this is a huge relief, Battlelog is hands-down the shittiest method of social interaction within a game easily. The fact that DICE themselves have realised this is good, I truly believe they are trying to do the right thing with Battlefront. But of course...

Still a great game, although this has reminded me just how shit the ps2 actually is. I'm not old but I must have had those nostalgia goggles pretty tight not to remember the shit controllers, weird OS, unreliable (8mb) memory cards and the frequency at which it skipped.

I was alright for a 5-9 year old

Gaming / I just pre-ordered the Witcher 3
« on: April 17, 2015, 05:39:23 AM »
It's now downloading onto my new 3tb hard drive I bought for my xb1. As the game is currently £40 (which is what it'll be in most stores that aren't GAME post-release) and this mean it'll have a whole month to download it this saves me the annoyance of buying it nearer release and having to wait to actually play it, this way it'll be ready.

I know you're generally against pre-ordering, but with this game I think it's a safe bet and a good deal.

Gaming / Here we go again
« on: April 09, 2015, 05:54:03 PM »
So, now with Blops 3 confirmed that means we have basically a repeat of 2012's and even 2010's situation.

Once again it has fallen so that it's Black ops vs Halo, both of the previous match-ups between them have had CoD pretty much coming out on top (Blops vs Reach in 2010 and Blops2 vs Halo 4 in 2012) but I do wonder about the outcome this year.

I suppose it would be fair to say that neither franchise is what it once was; CoD seems to get deeper into trouble with each new game, AW's only saving grace was the introduction of Exos (A revamped mobility system, basically) and zombies (as bloody dlc). Halo hasn't technically fallen at all, although i'm sure many of you would say otherwise-but it's certainly not the monster it was pre-Halo 4.

The gaming world of today is very different, and although it's difficult to say without having seen anything of Black Ops 3 bar that teaser trailer... I believe that, parallel to previous years, Halo is now the more modern and advanced series. That can only bode well for Halo 5 beating out it's competition.

Holy shit. 10/10. That's hands-down one of the best movies i've ever watched, if not the best. I realise that i'm late to this but nevertheless, I presume some of you guys have watched it? If not then I urge you to do so-it's in Netflix and free on Xbox Video (if you are weird) this weekend.

Dear god... It's genuinely the worst game i've ever played. It's cringey, historically inaccurate, everyone "English" is 100% Irish, the graphics are worse than Dynasty warriors on the PS2, the voice acting is poor-it's all utterly ridiculous. Now this could all be forgiven if the game was fun, but it isn't in the slightest. All you need to do is keep the right trigger held and randomly press A, X, Y or hold RB and you can win everything.

Basically it's Dynasty Warriors Empire minus the tactics, fun gameplay and measured craziness.

2/10

And the 2 is for it's wacky character creator.
Anyone else braved this shit so far?

You struggle and toil away at the expense of doing any revision to get St Paddy's day cards in Fifa. After so much tenseness, sweaty palms and pure luck.

It say seem small to you but it's big to me, discuss small moments in games that hold significance and pride to you-no matter what anyone says.

Aw yeah, BiA was a great series and i'm happy that Gearbox want to bring it back. On a wider note; it seems that killing Nazis is back in fashion with the runaway success of Wolfenstein and Sniper Elite (V2/3), we've obviously heard rumours of a WoW2 from Activision and now this. Hyped, not necessarily for a new BiA but for the return of the historical shooter
