With Cheat confirming that this place will be set to read-only and subsequently archived, I thought it would be appropriate to have a farewell thread. Info about how to move to the new site is hereSome statsTotal post count now: 9110 Days on the site: 3,809 First post: "Wasn't this the 'private' flood party where everyone got banned from?" thread10 year highlightsThe good: I moved 6 times, had 4 partners, got my license, bought 2 cars, bought a house, got married, got 2 cats, traveled to 12 countries, read 50+ books, got credited in a couple AAA games. The bad: Stretched the tendons in my left elbow, oldest and closest childhood friend took his own life, witnessed how the russian invasion ruined the life of my friend in Ukraine I don't remember who invited me here when b.net was getting gutted but I thank you. These ten years were full of peaks and valleys. Starting with the uncertain days of college, I didn't know if I would ever be financially stable. This place could take my mind off those things, I could forget about the loneliness and constant stress. Eventually after graduating and finding a stable job, things got better. Much better, for the most part. Have a look at your early posts, see how much you've changed (or not). Thank you Cheat for creating sep7agon and thank you all for keeping it going for so long!

I just sent in my passport for renewal in case I need to leave the country. Spooky. But other than that:
I am planning on aggressively paying down my mortgage and get that paid off by end of year and also plan to get to a point with my Pokemon / Yu-Gi-Oh eBay business + my stock investments where I can quit my job.
How long was your mortgage term? Didn't you buy just a few years ago? Well done btw. I've still got 30 years left on mine.
For 2025, I want to visit a few new places in US.
30 years; bought in 2018. I've been paying like 180% min payment since I started, every month. A couple months ago I started dumping chunks of savings in and the math works out that I can keep doing that and should have it paid off in full by end of next year.
This assumes I can keep my job for most of that time haha.
Wow, well done! Wish you success.

The people he is selecting for different departments. Is one of them really a pedo? How does that align with the 'protect the children' mantra?

Its called Xbox One
Not XBox One or X Box One
Hence, shortening it to Xbone is wrong and stupid. It should be XOne, XO, xone or X1

now, if someone asks me, "but will this actually affect your personal life, though?" i'll be able to say "yes" for the first time
with Trump in office, Biden's student loan repayment program is cooked—the amount that i owe is such that i will never see the end of it. i'll be paying it off for the rest of my life, leaving me with significantly less time (and money to pay for) my hobbies, personal projects, or pretty much anything that could actually give me joy in life. all gone now
my fault for going to college after being relentlessly pressured into doing so by literally every single adult in my life when i was too young and dumb to understand the associated risks and repercussions
Sorry to hear that Verb and thanks for sharing your pain. God forbid a country has a healthy and educated population WITHOUT being crippled by debt. ffs

Thanks for the summary, Verb. For EU's and Ukraine's sake, I hope Trump loses. I suspect he will try pulling another 'storm the white house' bs again and it may be messier this time.
Also, why does the world always wait until 1942 when we could have fixed everything in 1939? Are we retarded?

People who support Trump here - why? All news I see of him shows him doing something objectively bad. Am I missing some positives about him?

We had two people returning now. Is there something about election season that for some reason brings up memories of Sep7?

Rainbow six: Vegas is BS sometimes. Staying in cover, send my squad into cover, playing carefully. Some random shot insta-kills me. Forced to replay a huge section from the start. Is there some pro-strat I am missing? Skill issue?

Big Halo news. Moving to Unreal Engine 5 343 industries are done. Its now Halo Studios.
Not sure why people are getting their hopes up so high about that. That studio rebrand is like cutting off somebody's face, putting another over it, and calling them a different person. I don't think it's got good chances of panning out.
Pure hopium at this point. Though they did do a 180 with MCC so they are capable of making something good. The switch to UE is positively received because new hires won't need to spend a lot of time understanding the legacy engine.
the switch to unreal to attract graphics coomers
Graphics aside, there is an important positive - new hires will not have to spend a lot of time learning some proprietary engine and instead be ready to begin productive work much sooner. This should help speed up development. Easier to experiment with, quicker to prototype features. This combined with changes in management gives me some hope.

Looks like this is quite the divisive movie. Did you see it? What did you think?
I preferred the first movie but don't hate this one. I appreciate that they tried something different.

Too Human was something. Positives: Little to no loading screens Lots of armor pieces to customize your character with You can't lose, you die and respawn with no progress loss You are playing something like 'lost media' since copies of this game are not sold anymore and unsold copies were destroyed by court order. Massive levels.
Negatives: Basically only 4 types of enemies Controls take a while to get used to, if you don't figure them out - the game is beyond frustrating. (use the right stick to aim at stuff while holding RT). Once I realized that, the game was slightly less shit. Incoherent story, at times funny when it is trying to be serious. Most of the times it comes off as pretentious 'too-fond-of-its-own-farts' level. The universe is never established. Who are we? What are we doing? Why are we doing it? The game assumes you know who these characters are. CQC is a death sentence because enemies surround you and they inflict damage faster than you can attack them meme-tier death/respawn sequence, you have to rewatch the same (unskippable) 10 second animation. Weird censorship, there were instances of characters inflicting wounds on themselves and the camera always panned away. Yet there are enemies that clearly show mutilation. Underdeveloped leveling system / tree. a non-ending ending.
3/10, do not recommend. Play only out of curiosity.

Master Chief? You mind telling what you're doing being a pelican? *engine noises*

i think these are all the games sitting in the backlog for now, all on xbox as i dont have anything i wanna play on the Switch right now
currently, im playing the most recent forza motorsport, just grinding cars for the last achievement i need, which is to get 30 cars to level 50. i currently have 24 so im sorta almost there, but each car takes about 3-4 hours to level all the way up, so at the same time im still ways away
the past few weeks have just been a sorta "clean up" time for me, as i finished up the last achievement i needed for Sonic Colors Ultimate (which was to basically play through the entire game in one sitting) and finished up the hardest difficultly achievement for Bioshock Infinite. after i finish up FM i can finally get to playing "new" games again
as for what game i wanna play next, im not entirely sure. it was sorta a toss up between persona 5, soul hackers 2, or fallout 4 but at the same time theyre all rpgs, which will take dozens and dozens of hours so im kinda iffy lmao
You can get two games going in parallel. An RPG and a short one. Cod 4, Alan Wake, RE4 you can knock these out in a weekend or two each. Metro games are kind of longish if you don't rush them. Stalker took me a while, but that's because I wanted to take the world in. I got addicted to them after some time.

Witcher 1 was something.
The combat is glitchy at times and pretty boring, the writing is... mixed, great locations, unexpected nudity, slow walking speed, great variety of characters and enemies. Its almost in the territory of "How did this get a sequel?" Will move onto the second game later this year. Now its onto Unreal.
extremely late on the reply but are you interested in the (supposed? not sure if they've 100% confirmed it yet or not) witcher 1 remake? i am
ive heard that witcher 1 has aged quite poorly, so im definitely interested in trying it out. i loved witcher 3 and enjoyed the second one too
Right now after having completed it recently - not really interested but I may revisit it eventually to check any quests I missed (there were a few sidequests I gave up on). I now started the second game, playing it with Polish VO to practice my polski. I'm at the very begging still, will report later if it improved on anything from the first game.
