The Flood / Amateur Writing

Hey all, I've been writing as a hobby for the better part of twelve years. I don't really mention it as a lot of people I meet these days tend to not seem too interested in reading, or simply just don't have the free time to sit down and look at something an amateur has done. That being said, I've been working on a new idea recently at the behest of a good friend of mine and thus far, it's been well received by them and everyone else I've sent it to. So, I thought it couldn't hurt to put the link to the first chapter here for anyone with the slightest spark of interest.
A brief summary of what this is about: My friend, who has never heard of the Witcher before and only knows that I have a great love for the series of books and games, asked me to make my own original story set inside the universe. For this, I bent the universe a bit to suit myself; meaning that it's not in the actual world of the Northern Kingdoms, but in our own Medieval world during the early 1290s, about a decade before the beginning of the Renaissance. Other than this, it has all of what you would expect: monsters, magic, sorceresses, political intrigue, disgruntled monster slayers, etc. For further inquiries, I cannot readily share without spoiling the plot of the story. However I will answer any and all other questions, and any helpful criticism and comments are always appreciated. Lastly, for anyone that's not really a fan of The Witcher, fret not- this is written with non-Witcher fans in mind. I hope you all enjoy, I've put about five months of my life into writing this little passion project.
