The Flood / Better Call Saul Season 5« on: April 23, 2020, 01:43:41 PM »
Now that it's finished, did anyone watch it?
At this point for me there's no doubt that BCS is better than Breaking Bad. This was possibly the best season so far. The wait for the final season is going to be painful. 4
Serious / Keir Starmer elected leader of UK Labour Party« on: April 04, 2020, 05:16:36 AM »
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52164589
We'll have to wait and see but given people like George Osborne were endorsing him I'm not sure if this bodes well for Labour or not. Starmer seems to be favoured more by the neoliberal side of Labour but has also said he wants to maintain Labour's socialist policies to some extent. He comes from a working class background which is a plus although I'm not sure if that will be enough to win back northern working class voters who were put off by Labour's PV stance which was pushed by Starmer himself. So I guess we've either got a new leader who can bring together both the moderate and leftist wings of the Labour party or just another milquetoast Blairite. 5
Gaming / Dreams (PS4)« on: February 18, 2020, 05:23:01 AM »
Probably the only thing making me wish I had a PS4 right now. MediaMolecule does it again. Some of the stuff that's come out of it is really impressive.
YouTube Anyone got this game? It's getting excellent reviews so far. 6

Serious / Boris Johnson pushing for snap election December 12« on: October 24, 2019, 11:16:59 AM »
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-50174402
this has been a wild ride polls suggest that if a GE is held after the brexit deadline and brexit hasn't happened tories will lose a big chunk of their support to brexit party, which might cost them this election. will be interesting either way. 9

The Flood / Spoiler El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie« on: October 11, 2019, 09:34:32 AM »
The Breaking Bad movie came out today and I just watched it. Pretty good, a bit slow and the ending was fairly predictable (not necessarily in a bad way however) but overall decent. Not sure if I'd give it a rewatch but I would recommend it to any fan of the show. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10 or 8/10.
Anyone else watch it? 11

Serious / Boris Johnson to be UK's next Prime Minister« on: July 23, 2019, 06:44:12 AM »
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49084605
As if there was any doubt as to this happening, Boris Johnson has won the Tory Leadership contest against Jeremy Hunt and will be taking over from Theresa May as Prime Minister tomorrow. We have entered the depths of this Tory hellscape and there is no exit in sight. Please save us Corbyn. 14

The Flood / Game of Thrones Finale« on: May 12, 2019, 07:29:39 AM »
so the penultimate episode is tonight and it's pretty clear D&D have abandoned any sense of logic or plot coherency so really anything could happen but what are people's expectations for the final two episodes
having seen the leaks I can promise we're all in for a treat 16
The Flood / Spoiler Avengers: Endgame« on: April 25, 2019, 09:55:57 AM »
so i just saw this neat little independent art house movie called "avengers endgame" and it was really fucking good
i'm not sure if it's better than infinity war but i still really enjoyed it was unsure during the first act as things seemed to be happening very quickly and somewhat conveniently like: Spoiler captain marvel saving tony stark in space but it really picked up after that. long as fuck tho anyone else heard of this film and planning on seeing it? if not i recommend you do. 17

Gaming / Red Dead Redemption 2« on: October 28, 2018, 11:05:32 AM »
Anyone else get it? Seeing Arthur shit the bed after filling himself up on almonds at the saloon really shows off the impact of Rockstar's staff working 100-hour weeks up until release. Incredible realism.

Gaming / Telltale Games (close to) shutting down« on: September 21, 2018, 04:45:57 PM »
https://twitter.com/telltalegames/status/1043252010999410689
They've been going through some troubles for a few years but now they're near enough done for good. Massive layoffs (225 employees) this morning, leaving only 25 employees to finish off the current series of The Walking Dead, which was actually off to a really good start. Pretty gutted about this, was a big fan of a lot of their games, particularly their Walking Dead ones. Will feel a bit weird not having a new series to look forward too every couple of years. Shame that their other stuff like Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us will never get their sequels. 20

The Flood / Solo thread« on: May 25, 2018, 03:29:44 AM »
I saw Solo yesterday and it was surprisingly good. A FUN adventure movie, and often comfy, like sitting in the back of the Millennium Falcon on cruise control. I'm not sure how you fuck up the marketing for a movie so bad because I went in expecting to be able to take the piss out of it and came out having enjoyed myself. It's nothing amazing, and still fairly pointless like the rest of these anthology films, but a decent enough watch.
Anyone else seeing it? 25
Gaming / Destiny 2: Warmind« on: April 24, 2018, 12:04:06 PM »
So this is a thing coming out next month. Not much is known except it'll be set on Mars with Ice Hive and there'll be a new mode called Hive Escalation Protocol. Also from now on all Crucible maps will be available to all players in matchmaking (but the DLC needs to be purchased to use them in custom games) which is neat except Crucible is trash so it won't matter to me anyway.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46735 There's a stream on now revealing more about the expansion. Hopefully it's less like Curse of Osiris and The Dark Below and more like House of Wolves. Destiny's content model has been shit ever since Destiny 1 and hasn't changed even with Destiny 2 so I'm not getting my hopes up. I fell for the Season Pass meme like some kind of IDIOT because I liked Destiny 2 when it first came out so I have no choice but to play this and get my money's worth (or not). 26

The Flood / A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2« on: April 02, 2018, 07:55:21 PM »
So, this dropped a few days ago and I just finished it. Really good stuff. Casting for Esme and Carmelita was spot-on in particular.
My only real issue was the pacing was a bit too fast at times, there wasn't much room for some more quiet moments. Anyone else watch it? 29
