I know, /capeshit, but I really enjoyed my time. The story was nice, and there was some pretty great character development, especially Rocket concerning his douchebaggery. There were a couple of questionable moments mainly from a comic book lore standpoint, and--while funny--I felt like there were too many jokey moments. Overall, enjoyable experience and didn't feel like I wasted my time ala Suicide Squad.

The Miami Police Department received a call for a break-in at a Burger King restaurant around 2 A.M. and some officers were on the site in a matter of minutes.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, they found 510-lb Romeo Carter, chugging down oil directly from the deep fryers. The 41-year old man has already ingested dozens of gallons of cooking oil, but was still drinking it with an apparently unquenchable thirst.
He was arrested on the site and accused of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief. http://worldnewsdailyreport.com/man-breaks-into-a-burger-king-and-drinks-gallons-of-deep-frying-oil/Rip

I kind of wanted to discuss how creepy that statement sounds, taken from this article. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/12/trump-administration-considering-narrower-travel-ban?CMP=fb_usSenior Advisor Stephen Miller announced that opponents, the media, and the world will see that the President's Executive Orders to "protect the country" will not be questioned by the judiciary branch because they feel that branch has too much power. To me, that feels like a worrying statement. I have no doubts that if Trump's orders continue to be questioned in court, he'll continue to throw tantrums and fight them all the way to the Supreme Court. But saying the judicial branch has "too much power" also seems very concerning. In my opinion, it just sounds like that Trump, if the courts challenge the legality of his Executive orders, could find ways to limit their power. We already saw what happened to the Attorney General when she questioned the legality of his ban. (I'm just coming back from lunch so I'll post more thoughts on this later, but I just wanted to get this topic started while it was still fresh in my mind.)

Trump has tapped net neutrality foe Ajin Pai to become Chairman of the FCC, the agency responsible for enforcing and promulgating rules that assure an open Internet. His appointment, like many Federal appointments, will not require initial Senate approval (although he will need to be reconfirmed by the Republican-dominated Senate in 2017).
Why is this important? Because as head of the FCC, that agency will now be dominated by officials opposed to the idea of an “open Internet:”
Net neutrality is the idea that your Internet provider must treat all Web traffic equally. A court decision in January struck down FCC rules meant to ensure that Internet providers do not discriminate by blocking or slowing certain content.
That decision opened the door for Internet providers like Comcast and Verizon to cut deals with content providers, which would pay to stream their content in an Internet “fast lane.”
Under President Obama’s leadership, the FCC reacted to this Court decision by reclassifying broadband access as a telecommunications service and thus applying Title II (common carrier) of the Communications Act of 1934 as well as section 706 of the Telecommunications act of 1996. The new Rule took effect in June, 2015. This nullified the prior Court decision and effectively made “net neutrality” the law of the land, at least temporarily. In 2016, the FCC’s new Rules were upheld by the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. We have enjoyed an “open Internet” since that time.
That is all going to change, and not because of any Court decision, but because of Donald Trump.
His nominee, Ajin Pai, will, in position as Chairman, be empowered to revoke the old rules. http://m.dailykos.com/story/2017/1/20/1622924/-The-Orange-Swindler-s-First-Priority-Ending-Net-NeutralityHere we go again.

It has been expected for weeks. Now, Trump transition officials confirm that Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and a major real estate developer in New York, will be named senior adviser to the president.
The rumored post has focused attention on Mr. Kushner’s myriad potential conflicts of interest, including a Chinese development deal that’s in the works. Then there’s the issue of whether a son-in-law in the West Wing violates antinepotism laws.
But the Trump team will muscle through — as it usually does.
People close to transition warned that Mr. Kushner’s title might be adjusted. An announcement could come as early as Tuesday. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/01/09/us/politics/donald-trump-transition.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&referer=http://m.facebook.com/Rest of the article just goes on about the Meryl Streep bullshit, unfortunately.

"This is an unlawful thing you're doing." *proceeds to recite the amendment.*
Cool story, but I'm not a public servant, haven't taken an oath, and have been approved by the state to ask for your receipt when you are trying to walk out with expensive shit.
I'm meeting some pretty interesting people in this LP (loss prevention) job.

It had some problems with the camera during chase scenes and some of the character development was a little "eh", but overall not a bad movie if you do what I did and walk in with average expectations. It was a pretty faithful adaptation and did explain shit for the general movie audience without being a total exposition dump.
It's not Oscar Award material, but it is a nice popcorn flick if you just wanted to kick back and watch a cool action movie.

President Obama was so shocked at how little Donald Trump and his advisers appeared to understand about the myriad duties and responsibilities the President-elect would be taking on at the White House that he will "spend more time with his successor than presidents typically do" to provide him with additional guidance, a new report claims.
Obama and Trump met inside the Oval Office Thursday in a wide-ranging 90-minute sit-down that ended with the President-elect — who had for years criticized the sitting-commander-chief and who campaigned on vows to dismantle his legacy — stating that he "looked forward to dealing with the President in the future, including counsel."
And Obama — who after the meeting vowed to do "everything we can to help you succeed, because if you succeed the country succeeds" — apparently took Trump up on the offer.
According to a report Monday in The Wall Street Journal, Trump "seemed surprised by the scope" of responsibilities he would be taking on as President and his aides were not even aware that the President-elect would have to hire a full White House staff. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/obama-spend-time-trump-provide-guidance-report-article-1.2872484Oh my God. Read and imagine Das' blood boilingGun control legislation going into effect in California next week will allow authorities to seize a person’s weapons for 21 days if a judge determines there is potential for violence.
Proposed in the wake of a deadly May 2014 shooting rampage by Elliot Rodger, the bill provides family members with a means of having an emergency “gun violence restraining order” imposed against a loved one if they can convince a judge that this person’s possession of a firearm “poses an immediate and present danger of causing personal injury to himself, herself or another by having in his or her custody or control.”
Absolutely ridiculous.

With well over half of it going to military/Pentagon spending.House Speaker Paul Ryan reached a deal late Tuesday on two major pieces of legislation: a $1.1 trillion spending package and a $629 billion package of tax breaks.
The $1.1 trillion spending bill includes $548 billion in defense spending, $518 billion in non-defense spending, and $73.7 billion in additional funds for the Pentagon for ongoing combat operations.
The package is made up of the 12 annual spending bills, which have been bundled into one "omnibus" spending deal that provides funding for the next fiscal year, through Sept. 30, 2016. Just a snippet, full details in the link. I think the military spending is ridiculous, especially with making more tanks. The Army has said they don't need anymore tanks, and there's a graveyard of them just rusting away in some Californian desert. I'm pleased to see that the military servicemen/women are getting a pay raise (even if it is a meager 1 percent) and that housing situations are being addressed, but good Christ that's still a lot of money. Oh, but Obama is the one spending us into oblivion amirite?

Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, who as leader of ISIS has inspired followers to both fight in his self-declared caliphate of Iraq and Syria, and also stage attacks in countries like Tunisia and France.
Black Lives Matter activists, who have protested inequality towards African Americans, especially in their treatment by law enforcement.
Caitlyn Jenner, whose coming out as a transgender woman prompted widespread conversations about gender identity and issues of equality for the LGBT community.
Travis Kalanick, who as CEO of Uber drove his car-hailing company to a nearly $70 billion valuation, but also drew criticism about the downside of the sharing economy.
Angela Merkel, who as German chancellor has been at the center of major news events this year, from economic strife in the Eurozone to Europe’s ongoing migrant crisis.
Vladimir Putin, who as president of Russia has defied Western sanctions over his country’s military activity in Ukraine to play a critical but precarious role in the war on ISIS.
Hassan Rouhani, who as president of Iran is seeking to bring his country out of pariah status and repair its sanctions-crippled economy by pursuing a nuclear deal with the West.
Donald Trump, whose populist rhetoric has made him frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential candidacy and stirred debate about the party’s future. So our finalists are: A fucking moron, Vladimeme Putin, a killer, the leader of ISIS, a car CEO, a group of segregationists, the Iron Lady, and the President of Iran (I don't know much about him lol). From what I've seen, the only person on that list who's even remotely qualified seems to be Merkel.

AND IT'S BATMAN.Telltale Games, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment, today announced an interactive episodic game series based on DC Comics’ iconic Batman™ that is set to premiere in 2016. The official title for the Telltale series is yet to be revealed.
The episodic game series will premiere digitally on home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced.
“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”
“Telltale has an established track record of creating award-winning content for some of the best properties in the world,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to working with the team as they deliver a new interactive way for fans and gamers to experience the rich narrative world of Batman.”
Revealed on-stage at The Game Awards 2015 in Los Angeles, the full announcement teaser trailer will be available for online viewing later this week. Given how "meh" Game of Thrones was, and that Minecraft: Story Mode is apparently not doing so well, I feel like TellTale is getting too ahead of themselves and trying to cash in on their popularity while it's still hot.
