Serious / Re: Why didn't the Jews fight back?« on: July 17, 2015, 04:17:08 AM »What about the RĂ©sistance in occupied France? I doubt they got French Revolution bad, but still aught to have caused some trouble. They did, they just did the usual frenchman's job of it and surrendered after a few broken baguettes and a couple of squashed bries. Why didn't the Japanese-Americans fight back? Why didn't black slaves fight back? Why didn't the Irish fight ba- oh, bad example. Anyways, they really had no means to do so. They were starved and worked, with no tools or means for organization.I think the better question would be why didn't the French fight back? Jews could have been safe there. 883
Serious / Re: A robot just passed the self-awareness test« on: July 17, 2015, 04:04:26 AM »This little story sprung to mind.the biggest problem is that we simply don't know. An artificially created intelligence could decide to do any number of things, it could help us, or conversely it could go Verbatim on us and come to a conclusion that life is a bad thing and should be eliminated, an then hack the whole planet and nuke us. Spoiler Dwan Ev ceremoniously soldered the final connection with gold. The eyes of a dozen television cameras watched him and the subether bore throughout the universe a dozen pictures of what he was doing. He straightened and nodded to Dwar Reyn, then moved to a position beside the switch that would complete the contact when he threw it. The switch that would connect, all at once, all of the monster computing machines of all the populated planets in the universe -- ninety-six billion planets -- into the supercircuit that would connect them all into one supercalculator, one cybernetics machine that would combine all the knowledge of all the galaxies. Dwar Reyn spoke briefly to the watching and listening trillions. Then after a moment's silence he said, "Now, Dwar Ev." Dwar Ev threw the switch. There was a mighty hum, the surge of power from ninety-six billion planets. Lights flashed and quieted along the miles-long panel. Dwar Ev stepped back and drew a deep breath. "The honor of asking the first question is yours, Dwar Reyn." "Thank you," said Dwar Reyn. "It shall be a question which no single cybernetics machine has been able to answer." He turned to face the machine. "Is there a God?" The mighty voice answered without hesitation, without the clicking of a single relay. "Yes, now there is a God." Sudden fear flashed on the face of Dwar Ev. He leaped to grab the switch. A bolt of lightning from the cloudless sky struck him down and fused the switch shut. 884

Gaming / Re: Why don't game devs make a ducking co-op fantasy rpg for god sakes« on: July 15, 2015, 04:06:11 PM »There are a few out there, usually small time stuff. One that comes to mind is a game call Trine.Trine is more of a puzzle platformer though. There are smaller games that sorta have your idea of fantasy co-op OP. But none of them are 1st person or over the shoulder 3rd person. You can look at Magicka, Torchlight, and Terraria maybe. That last one is a stretch. 894
