The Flood / Re: So my Prom was yesterday« on: May 13, 2015, 02:06:15 PM »
I went to mine with the only girl I could say that I "fell in love" with. Was friends with her for a while and asking her to prom is a defining moment of my teenage life. Unfortunately there were some unforeseen circumstances that wrecked any chance of us being more than just prom dates, but we still had an amazing night together. Haven't found a girl who could make me feel quite like she did...
Oh and I hosted an after party at my house which was fun as fuck. Someone puked in my pool, people were doing lines of blow in the bathroom, and I smoked weed for the first time that night. Goddamn, thinking back on it is putting a smile on my face. 3559
I know that feel right nowI dunno. It went from physical to like, emotional for no reason. I just feel really bummed. In pain. Why bud? 3560
Serious / Re: "You should absolutely be forced to be vegan."« on: May 12, 2015, 11:11:49 PM »Somebody killing themselves usually puts suffering on those who were close with the deceased, so to someone who wants to end all suffering, I assume that's the complete opposite of what he wants.Uhh apparently killing yourself does solve at least one thing that you want. There will be no more sentient enjoyment. So what? Why does there need to be? Just putting my two cents in 3561
Serious / Re: "You should absolutely be forced to be vegan."« on: May 12, 2015, 10:52:18 PM »I'm sure there are some alternatives out there that affect people in ways that would be detrimental to their health, but there are also alternatives that are completely fine for people to regularly consume. Not to mention we already have alternatives for almost every animal product there is.Unhealthy alternatives which are bad for your physical and mental health. It comes down to the knowledge of the consumer and what exactly they want out of the particular supplement they wish to take. 3562
Serious / Re: "You should absolutely be forced to be vegan."« on: May 12, 2015, 10:46:41 PM »I don't think Verb is saying that there is nothing to enjoy. Hell I'm sure he enjoys certain things just as much as anyone enjoys anything. However he's not wrong in the sense that humans indeed create mass amounts of suffering not only placed on ourselves, but on everything around us as well.So let me get this strait. Verbatim wants everybody to stop eating meat becasue it's immoral to eat meat becasue killing is wrong, and his end solution to killing is to kill everything and everyone....killing isn't wrong Plus I don't really enjoy watching people throw petty insults and attack him for his anti-natalism views, considering that isn't what the subject of this thread is about and this is the Serious forum, which should be free from this type of nonsense. 3563
Serious / Re: "You should absolutely be forced to be vegan."« on: May 12, 2015, 10:37:41 PM »Let's say that all of the world's livestock and meat supply suddenly vanished. Bam, no more meat. What do we do? We use our brains to survive in this new environment by coming up with alternative methods of gaining nutrients that are naturally found in animals. We use our brains first and foremost to surviveSo do that mean we have to start putting cats and dogs in jail too?jesus christ Obviously this situation would never ever happen, but my point is that we as a species have developed methods of making our survival much easier than it was for our ancestors. We don't need to be pushed to the brink of extinction to begin developing more humane, earth-friendly ways of feeding our population. 3564

I don't think outright banning something that many people enjoy will go over very well with the general population (prohibition era, anyone?). That isn't to say that something like this isn't possible in the future, but the way society is now there just aren't any feasible methods of transitioning an entire generation of humans into veganism.
Personally I have nothing against vegans and as a pacifist I can definitely side with them on the stance of stopping the mass murder of animals for our personal gain, but I just feel like we as humans are predisposed to having an omnivorous diet, as our anatomy fully supports it. I'd also like to add that I don't quite understand the argument that, if you use a dietary supplement, you don't have a healthy diet. Supplements are created for people who have reasons for not being able to get these specific nutrients "the natural way," but then there are the claims that supplements aren't natural. How aren't they? Everything in the supplement was derived from nature, only it's processed in a different form. Unfortunately, the majority of our "natural" sources of nutrients have been processed 50-times over, what with GMOs and pesticide-ridden crops dominating the market, more organic options are pricey and spurn people away from switching over. Personally I use a whey protein supplement because of the fact that I spend the majority of my time working in order to make a living, making it hard for me to plan and execute a well-balanced diet centered around meals. Hopefully I didn't join in on this topic too late because I really do have a genuine interest in discussing this further. 3567

Serious / Re: Psychedelics« on: May 12, 2015, 09:20:39 PM »
If someone told me a few years ago that a psychedelic drug would change my life in a positive way, I would've laughed in their face. I used to be the type of person who bought into the government's "all drugs are evil" propaganda, but I guess a strong group of friends and a curiosity in seeing the world through a different pair of eyes allowed me to completely change my perspective. What a lot of people fail to realize is that these substances aren't "party drugs" in any way, shape, or form, and should not be put into the same category as alcohol or cannabis. Ultimately, these substances should be treated with respect by conducting further research into its positive uses and support education regarding safe and responsible use, rather than banning what other cultures have built their way of life around for centuries.
I can go more in-depth on my psyilocybin experience if requested. 3570
