The Flood / AMA by the end of this week, i will be a vegetarian
« on: May 09, 2016, 11:13:23 PM »
gonna start by slowly weening off certain types of meats at a time, beginning with cutting out red meats and pork for a few days, followed by poultry and seafood. this might be one of the toughest choices of my life so far, but as far as my beliefs go i feel it will definitely pay off in the long run :)

The Flood / does anyone here know how to shuffle? (dance)
« on: April 09, 2016, 05:22:21 PM »
i'm making it a goal of mine to learn how to shuffle before i go to my next music festival, which is coming up in a little over a month. i'll eventually begin scouring youtube for guides and all that, but if there's anyone here who could offer some advice that i probably won't get from a video, that would be fantastic :D

also i could use any dancing tips in general because, when it comes to dancing, i'm probably the whitest-looking dude on a dance floor

The Flood / worst airport experiences
« on: April 04, 2016, 08:59:06 AM »
thanks to ISIS and other terrorist butt heads, going to the airport these days is usually not a fun time. i just had to wait almost 3 hours to get through security at the Atlanta airport, which almost caused me to miss my flight. another time i was onboard the plane but it was stalled on the runway for a super long time because of "unanticipated traffic" or some shit, and this was on Spirit Airlines, where they don't even offer complimentary beverages or snacks. fuckin commies, man

not feeling particularly well about it, either. just gonna relax and reflect on everything that's happened and how to prevent something like this from happening again in the future.

you live and you learn, flood.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/02/05/longtime-sufferers-of-cluster-headaches-find-relief-in-psychedelics.html

not sure if this has been posted before but it is a pretty interesting read, even for the "DRUGS R EVIL" types.

Quote
Cluster headaches are excruciating for those who suffer from them.
More than one person in the course of research for this story likened the headaches to “an icepick piercing your brain through your eyes.” The headaches come in cycles, sometime multiple times a day, and an attack can last for up to 90 minutes. It’s debilitating to the point where cluster headache patients cannot function normally in society—how do you tell your boss you need to take an hour off while you suffer through excruciating pain? Modern medications—from opiates to steroids to neuro-implants—are, at best, minimally effective. There is no known cure. The suicide rate for those with the disease is 20 times the national average (PDF), according to a report published by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization dedicated to expanding the usages of psychedelics and marijuana.

There are an estimated 1 out of every 1000 Americans, 350,000-400,000 people, who suffer with the disease.
Bob Wold, 61, started getting the killer headaches 35 years ago. He tried over 70 different medications, and none of them worked. There is only one FDA-approved medication for cluster headaches. Other than that, all other treatments are off-label. According to Wold, the National Institutes of Health has spent less than $2 million on studying cluster headaches in 25 years. And so, Wold was “always on the look out for something better.”
Combing the Internet and message boards, he started doing research, and found people talking about psychedelics.

“A guy in Scotland had used some LSD recreationally and his cluster headaches didn’t happen that year. [The headaches] start the same time of year, every year,” he explains, so if your cycle starts in the spring, that’s when they’ll usually start to come on.
“This guy’s cycle didn’t start that fall, and he attributed it to LSD,” Wold says. “When [Albert] Hoffman was researching LSD, he was looking for a drug for headaches and migraines.”

“Other people tried it, and had amazing results,” Wold continues. “It gave long-lasting results after just a couple of doses. You could avoid the [headache] cycle from just 2-3 doses, 5 days apart at the start of cycle—and that stops it. It works. We’re trying to figure out why that is.”

And when he says “doses”—it’s not what you might think. These sufferers do not want to trip. They want relief. Just a quarter of what would be considered a recreational dose is effective for stopping their headaches.
Wold says that while low-doses of LSD are effective, (“People liken it to the buzz of drinking three beers,” he says.) it’s difficult to get. “But mushrooms are effective, and you can grow your own. For a $50-$100 investment, [patients] can grow several years worth of medication.”
And that’s what many cluster headache patients are doing now—growing their own mushrooms for medicine.

thoughts? hopefully this gains more national attention and these people can finally have access to a treatment for their pain

The Flood / i somehow managed to get free mcdonald's this morning
« on: February 02, 2016, 10:32:26 AM »
was dropping the babe off back at her place when i decided that i was in the mood for some of that all-day sausage egg burritos. so i pull into the drive thru and take my order, all without realizing that i forgot to bring my wallet until i make it to the window to pay. when i told the cashier i forgot my wallet, she just smiled and told me to drive to the second window, which i did. then they gave me my burritos and large coffee, no questions asked.

and, as we all know, free mcdonald's is really the only acceptable time to eat mcdonald's. today's gonna be a good day, flood.

at the ripe age of 20, i have finally found someone that i am content with being in a serious, committed relationship; in other words, a girlfriend. this is the first time i've ever done this and, honestly, i'm a little lost on the nuances of holding a strong relationship and whatnot. so....

i know there are a couple bros here with relationship experience, if there's any tidbits of advice y'all can throw my way that would be awesome :D

sorry for the blog post i won't do it again i swear

The Flood / Horseback riding is surprisingly fun
« on: January 04, 2016, 01:07:47 PM »
I wasn't planning on doing anything today and it's a beautiful day outside, so I figured I'd try something new instead of playing fallout all day...my mom has two horses and I've been around them since I was a little kid, but I had a bad experience with one of the horses charging at me and just grew a fear of getting near them >.>

But something clicked today and, well, I actually enjoyed myself. Horses are surprisingly docile for their size, more than I remember at least

So, moral of the story is to not let irrational fears get in the way of you trying something new :-)

AMA I guess, just felt like sharing this with my best buds

The Flood / new years resolutions are pretty stupid tbh
« on: January 01, 2016, 12:06:38 AM »
if you have to wait until a new year to make a positive change to yourself, well, that's pretty sad

but that's just my opinion

Gaming / Dead Money is really starting to piss me off (fallout new vegas)
« on: December 29, 2015, 10:05:20 PM »
it's kind of frustrating that i keep getting wrecked by these gas bombing, spear-throwing ghost faggots even though i'm a level 33 with maxed out strength and melee weapons...and it doesn't help that the plasma rifle you have to start with only has like 24 shots and that there aren't any other guns you can find (not that i know of, at least)

idk if i'm doing it completely wrong or if it's just supposed to be annoyingly-difficult...

The Flood / You are presented with an opportunity of a lifetime
« on: December 23, 2015, 08:18:16 PM »
you stumble upon a lamp of magical fortitude and BOOM, a genie pops out and offers you these three choices...

What do you pick, and why?

Don't just vote in the poll and then walk away either, I want some explanations >:(

Personally I'd choose the free airfare because being able to travel to any place in the world has always been a dream of mine. Of course there are other expenses that come with traveling but I'd argue that not worrying about airfare would make my dream so much more possible.

The Flood / This is easily the cutest thing I have ever seen

Not sure if this is old news or whatever but I don't really give a fuck...apparently there's a section of the Bahamas where you can swim with pigs.  who knew these fat bastards could enjoy the water so much, I mean how can you look at this and tell me this isn't cute as fuck
Spoiler

The Flood / So I spent 4 days at a cabin in Vermont with 12 dudes
« on: December 22, 2015, 10:54:38 AM »
Sounds like the plot to a gay porno/horror flick, right?

No internet, no TV, no cell service...just me, my 3 brothers, and family and friends going snowboarding during the day and playing board games at night...

So yeah that's where I've been if anyone cares, have I missed anything important?

The Flood / everyone is hyping and shitting their pants over star wars
« on: December 18, 2015, 11:27:56 PM »
And I'm just sitting here wondering why so many people are obsessed with a borderline mediocre film series...

Like, seriously, all of the movies are uninteresting snoozefests, and whenever I say I don't like them people lose their shit
