The Flood / Thinking about getting with a coworker
« on: June 03, 2015, 08:25:50 PM »
I went into the restaurant I work at today because I didn't feel like cooking and I get 50% off a meal. Walked in, ordered my food and sat down to wait since I got it to-go. Then one of the girls from work that I'm cool with approached me with a big smile and started conversation with me. She's 17 but pretty mature for her age ;) and she's fun to be around at work. A little short, auburn hair, and a Spanish (from Spain, not spic spanish lol) accent.

Only thing stopping me is that I've already slept with a girl who used to work there as well, and she turned out to be a fucking crazy bitch. Slept with her one night because I was depressed af and hungry for rebound after my break up a couple months ago. Told myself I'd never make that mistake again.

But now I'm questioning myself because this girl is giving me so many hints that she's attracted to me but I don't want to take a risk and deal with an awkward situation at work again.

pls help me, flood. This is the first real girl help thread we've had in ages

Serious / Your view on drug laws?
« on: June 01, 2015, 04:25:36 PM »
What's your opinion on how your country handles its laws against the use and possession of drugs?

I believe that drugs which have medical uses and are not inherently addictive, such as cannabis and a few psychedelic substances like LSD and psyilocybin mushrooms, should be legalized for medicinal and responsible recreational use. Currently in the US, psychedelics and cannabis are considered schedule I drugs because, according to the DEA, they have "high potential for abuse and have no accepted medical purposes," which is clearly outdated.

I'm an advocate for legal consenting adults to be able to temporarily alter their perception by using these drugs in a safe and regulated manner. What exactly is a safe and regulated manner? Having licensed dispensaries with a supply regulated by the FDA who only sell to adults 21 years of age or older, or in the case of cannabis and mushrooms, being able to obtain permits to grow your own. There are cultures of people who have been using these substances for centuries, and the government has made what should be a personal choice illegal on the grounds of old-wives tales of the 1960s and the "war on drugs."

The Flood / why the fuck do people do this
« on: May 29, 2015, 02:07:57 PM »
so i went to the grocery store and bought some of this multi-grain bread that was buy one get one free. i come home to make myself a sammich, but when i start to unwrap the packaging i realize that the bread is wrapped in not one, but two layers of plastic. like seriously, that's just straight-up wasteful

i wonder how the company decided to do this anyway
"yeah, everyone packages their bread in a single layer of plastic, lets be cool and double-wrap it!" it doesn't help that the second layer of plastic is so retardedly applied that it really shouldn't even be there in the first place, it's just a nuisance

discuss things that simply make no goddamn sense

The Flood / "I'm Shmacked" is coming to my university
« on: May 27, 2015, 09:37:50 PM »
http://www.winknews.com/2015/05/27/im-shmacked-video-company-coming-to-fgcu-for-party-of-the-year/
Quote
ESTERO, Fla.- A popular company among college students called, “I’m Shmacked” is headed to Florida Gulf Coast University.

The company visits college campuses around the country, throws a huge party and films it. They say it helps high school students make college decisions. But others worry it could damage reputations.

“I think it’s great for the university. I think it’s great that they’re coming in and, you know, they’re going to turn up, we’re going to turn up,” said Sam Camargo.

Camargo is one of many FGCU students who has already made his plans to attend what’s anticipated to be the biggest party of the year.

“I’m Shmacked” is coming to Estero for FGCU’s ‘Week of Welcome’ this August. The company made the announcement Tuesday on Twitter. Within minutes, the reactions came pouring in on social media.

“People are going to know about the university. It’s going to bring more recognition to the school,” said Camargo.

Some students say that recognition could damage the school and their future careers.

One incoming FGCU freshman says “the negative attention that comes along with ‘I’m Shmacked’ coming to FGCU isn’t something to be too excited about. Their brand and videos promote rape culture, sexism, abuse of drugs and alcohol.”

Another student says, “sorry but I’m Schmacked is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Everyone will be drunk, and no one will be able to give proper consent.”

In past campus visits, some parties have gotten out of hand.

In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 35 students were arrested in one night and in Delaware, a riot broke out.

During an interview with the Business Insider, the founder even admits that almost every show has incidents.

We reached out to FGCU officials to see what they had to say. They told us it’s up to the students whether or not they participate and will treat it as any other off campus party and not interfere.

what is "I'm Shmacked," you say? it's a website that's popular among college students that promotes these huge parties at random universities. apparently they're coming here during our week of welcome, can't wait to see all the freshmen get too fucked up and make fools of themselves lol

this might just be a normie thing if y'all have no idea what i'm talking about

The Flood / it's time for the dad bod trend
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:06:28 PM »
http://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-a-dad-bod-2015-5

Quote
Girls might fantasize over devilishly handsome, diamond-cut bodies like Brad Pitt's in Troy, but what they really want is a man who's more "human, natural, and attractive," according to Clemson University sophomore Mackenzie Pearson, who introduced the world to what she calls the "dad bod" last March in her premiere article "Why Girls Love the Dad Bod."

The dad bod applies to any man — father or bachelor — with a physique that's a "nice balance between a beer gut and working out," Pearson writes.

While Pearson's description gives some idea of what she's referring to, Josh Barro of the New York Times and economics professor Justin Wolfers from the University of Michigan wanted a more definitive explanation.

That meant they had to take the term "dad bod" more literally:

They looked at men between the age of 18 and 45 whose weight and gut size (among other physical traits) are detailed in the latest National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey released last May — a survey taken every few years by the National Center for Health Statistics to examine the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the US.

Then they compared the weight and gut size of men with children (under the age of 18) and men without children. Sure enough, they found a clear-cut difference between the two groups.

They report their findings in The Upshot stating:

"On average, dads are 10 pounds heavier than non-dads; they’re carrying nearly an extra two inches on their waist; and their bellies stick out an extra half-inch."

They also found that dads adopt more of a "dad bod" as their children age. Recent fathers with toddlers barely show any signs of the dad bod, Barro and Wolfers report, while fathers with older children and teens are the ones with the wider waistline.

Of course, these extra pounds might not necessarily be a direct consequence of fatherhood.

"After all, if the Internet is right that men with an extra layer of cushioning really are more attractive, perhaps they’re more likely to reproduce," they write.

Fucking lol, it's like the whole "curvy girl" trend but for guys. Oh how insecurities make people change themselves :^)

The Flood / Thinking about quitting my job
« on: May 18, 2015, 04:03:02 PM »
Some general bs is causing me to become frustrated with my job. Managers are sending me home early and telling me not to come in to work on some days for no apparent reason, in a very stressful time in my life where I'm depending on every dollar I can make. I didn't get a promotion that I feel I rightfully deserved, and to make it worse one of the people who did get promoted is an annoying cunt who takes her job too seriously and acts like a manager. So keeping in mind that management is so quick to keep me out of work, I call up and ask if they think the store will be busy enough for them to need me to come in for a 3 hour shift tonight. I have a day off tomorrow so I wanted to drive back to my hometown tonight and visit some friends and family.

But, of course, they need me to "help close" tonight. It's fucking frustrating because they're always willing to send me home on days where I'm ready and fully capable to work, but won't do me this favor on what will be another slow night. Getting increasingly tired of working my ass off to get that promotion and staying away from home for the summer so I could work and make money, only to stay being paid a dime above minimum wage and get my hours cut for no reason.

Fucking hell this stuff pisses me off sometimes, this is what keeps me motivated to opening my own business.

Sorry for the blog, just gotta let stuff out sometimes. Mostly posting this hoping for any sort of advice but y'all can share experiences you've had as well.
