Actually thinking poverty and being granted rights a generation ago doesn't have anything to do with it.

The Flood / I cry a lot when I watch movies.« on: May 13, 2015, 01:05:26 AM »
Almost every movie I watch, I end up crying. Because almost every movie has a sad scene in it. Like the fault in our stars. I cried over half of the movie. And interstellar when Anne Hathaway said love transcends time and space.
How can I stop crying when I watch movies? It hurts my eyes sometimes. 1221

Good replies, fellas. But to address some points, it's not necessarily true that people are sensitive if they get salty when someone's mean to them online. No one likes to be called mean things in real life, so it's only natural those feelings extend to other mediums.

Serious / Re: "Draw Muhammad" shooting in Garland Texas« on: May 11, 2015, 11:05:30 PM »Okay, I see what you mean. But didn't the Muslims just respond back to something they didn't like? It's a very barbaric and uncivilized way to repspond, but in a free world in which we all can retaliate, wouldn't this be a common issue? I'm not blaming the victims, I'm just saying that they should have foreseen what was going to happen. To an extent.Because the comparison wasn't with drawing to assassinations of people, the comparison was victim blaming someone attacked/murdered for expressing their ideas in the free world and rationalizing violence in response as to be expected and as an inevitability. In a free society, you don't have to be benefiting anybody with your every action. If you don't like what they say then you can respond back.I don't really see the comparison between drawing Muhammad for no real reason and the assassination of people promoting change. MLK and Ghandi had a purpose and a vision. These people who draw Muhammad aren't really trying to benefit anybody. Just fueling the flames. You have to look at reward and risk ratios.Just because they'll go to extremes doesn't justify it. One chooses to take offense, you can't realistically go your whole life not offending a single person unless you wanna be some antisocial nobody who lives in the wilderness. You're logic defends the murder of MLK, Ghandi, and JFK. Who knew MLK promoting equal rights would offend white people, he should have kept quiet and made sure not to slap the white gorillas feelings. That line of thinking is bullshit."They shouldn't have drawn Mohammed" is literally the equivalent of "she shouldn't have worn that skirt."Not really. Because they knew drawing Muhammad would make this happen. I mean how much proof do we need that Muslims will kill when people disrespect their religion? They literally kill themselves to take out infidels. Now what logical reason is there to mess with these people and get nothing in return for it? 1229
Serious / People are very cruel on the Internet.« on: May 11, 2015, 11:02:16 PM »
I'll start by saying I know I'm stating the obvious. This is more about the psychology of humans and the philosophy of human nature. Now I'm sure we've all seen how brutal people can be online, and I'm sure we've all had our fair share of moments where we've said some mean things to strangers we don't know online. Let's take for example YouTube, forums, comment sections of articles, and... well any place comments are allowed online. You're bound to see a flame war, right? When you argue with someone online, you most likely have a lot of insults in your argument. However when you argue with someone in person, you might tend to be more calm and mature with your responses.
But I ask, why? Why do people treat each other with such disrespect on the good ole Internet? I've seen some heinous comments and it just got me thinking. I'm sure some will argue it's anonymity, but that begs the question of why being anonymous makes us feel like we can treat our fellow humans like dirt. Are humans inherently hostile and the anonymity of the Internet allows us to express our true nature? What's the psychology behind it. Discuss! 1230
