"adult males" no mentions of WYMEN IN VIDEO GAMES LOOK AT THIS MISOGYNY.
but seriously who is this guy and why do you care?
A jackass, and I care because video games are a really big part of my life, and I still want to pursue a career in the industry with the knowledge I have from my game development courses and have that knowledge only grow, and this jackass is giving people like me shit because clearly I live in my parents basement and have no life.
But in all seriousness, I should be able to enjoy video games in general without having some pecker fucker berate you for it, and I'm pretty sure that's how most of these people felt.
Video games are bro culture at this point dude. Normies play FPS and Smash. This guy is a rarity.

So what you're saying is you dislike Dark Souls because it's a game where there can be a winner and a loser. You want to be able to employ the help of others against the game, but find it unfair when the game employs the help of others to fight back. tbh I take what a game tries to be in account when i try to measure it, i don't apply values to a design that was made wit different values in mind

Stop. Comparing. Humans. With. NPCs.
They are functionally the same in invasions. A human invading you is no less a healthy experience than an NPC invading you, I want you to posit a situation otherwise that I haven't already admitted exist (bad connection, modding, balance issues). NPCs are designed to emulate human behavior, the closer they get to it, the better. How then are humans not functionally the same? This isn't a matter of consent. You consent to a game of football when you play the game. These are the rules of the game. If you think the game is particularly unfun, I want you to tell me why, not just that these things happening is bad. For an anecdote, I thought Kirk was a player invading me when I first encountered him in Lost Izalith. That's what NPCs are supposed to do. The more intelligent and challenging your opponent is while you two share a fair playing field, the more meaningful and fun the challenge is.

No. Stop comparing NPCs to humans. They're two fundamentally different things. Explain how they are other than being more difficult bcause they can think. Good enemy intelligence is good for a game, not bad. Because it's a form of consent. Without it, the player cannot be blamed for getting invaded, because he had no way of knowing you could get invaded in this game until it happened. The player had no way of knowing that entering a fog-gate would lead to a boss, the player had no way of knowing how much damage an enemy attack would do, the player had no idea of knowing if there was fall damage or not, the player had no way of knowing xxxxxxxxx. The player isn't instakilled when they are invaded, they have a fair chance at killing the invader. No, because, again, NPCs are not people. But you had no idea it would happen, which is the reason invasions are bad right? An NPC invasion is functionally the same as being invaded by a retard. I think you just have issues with the fact that players are more challenging without artificial number tweaking. But not invasions.
The back of the box doesn't have to explain the entire game to you, that's what a manual is for. Which funnily enough, explains invasions.

There's legit reasons to dislike the game.
Consent clauses aren't one of them.

In this game you consent to invasions by playing as a human.
You're expected to do these things.
I don't think I signed that contract. I didn't see that disclaimer. That's because there isn't one, as far as I know.
Would you concede that there should be?
Is there a disclaimer that you'll have to fight NPCs? Why does there have to be one? Do you cry over the NPC invasions too? The back of the box says there's online multiplayer.

You walk within an NPCs aggro range and you made a choice that comes with the consequence of a fight. You leave the bonfire as a human and linger too long, someone is going to hunt you for humanity. NPCs aren't sentient and just do what they're programmed to do.
Human beings are sentient, and actively make the choice to fuck you over without asking.
NPCs don't have to ask--the "consent" is that you're playing a video game where you are expected to kill some NPCs.

The only legitimate complaints that can be had about PvP that doesnt apply to NPCs are shit netcode, exploits, and balance problems.
And breach of consent. Which is a pretty big fucking sin when it comes to playing a game that is meant to be entertaining to play.
Discern between an invasion and NPC aggro range.
I don't know what you mean.

"why do I have to fight this boss? I don't consent to this enemy being here"
"oh I can skip the boss at the cost of having to traverse a dangerous area? Wtf I don't want to mitigate my experience"
LMAO
I knew someone was going to make this SHIT comparison.
Bosses aren't people, genius. Therefore, consent isn't an issue.
Continue being a blind fanboy.

Why should we have to have trade-offs and make hard decisions that can greatly alter how we play wtf I want my choices to all result the same way wtf guys
Thank you for misrepresenting my argument again.
You enjoy getting raped--I get it. Not everyone is as crazy as you are.

>thinking invasion is inherently bad fucking lmao it adds to the game and fits the narrative just because you don't like having your path towards your goals challenged doesnt make it bad Thank you for misrepresenting my entire argument.
My problem with invasions isn't because I don't like "having my path challenged."
My problem with invasions is that they are not consensual, and the only way to avoid them is to mitigate your experience.
