Isn't the suffering of animals the utmost concern for vegans? Overpopulation in a habitat is most certainly something that causes suffering for animals. Limited food supplies can lead to starvation, especially among newborns. Is not the means of death relevant if their suffering is something that matters? Isn't being killed by predators better than eventually succumbing to exposure and not being able to feed one's self?

To be fair, capitol punishment is only a reasonable choice over imprisonment because of financial reasons. Which are nullifieded by the need of extensive appeals in order for the system to be ethical.
