What was even the point? They'd bastardised the character enough, made him look like a bitch, and then make him burn his fucking daughter for no reason other than shock value and to further their assassination of Stannis's character. It wouldn't even be that big a deal if they didn't put him through so much shit to shoot a pointless scene, regardless of how nice they might've been.
In fairness though, GRRM has plans for him to burn Shireen, allegedly. Still doesn't excuse the bastardization of the character.

Either way, just pointing out the clickbait. "EP says" implies that we're already past that stage in the process and that the Parliament accepted the draft, rather than it just being a single proposal.

The books are the only storylines which matter.
I honestly don't see Stannis surviving past WoW anyway. I mean, he's a great character, and D&D fucking butchered him, but I suppose it was better to just put down a dying horse sooner rather than later. The only death I'm disappointed with, or at least, story arc cut short, is Jon's. We know for a fact that characters can be reanimated in the ASOIAF universe, (Lady Stoneheart, Berric Dondarrion) and HBO just seem utterly reluctant to go down that route. I guess the character death doesn't bother me, it's the fact that his story arc ended so anti climatically. What about his possible lineage? His parents? We just going to suddenly forget about all the signs and hints GRRM left that he was indeed, part of the Song of Ice and Fire? I understand that both the showrunners and GRRM want to veer away from the "happily ever after" trope, but there's a fine line between realism and outright contrivances. Jon's narrative being the latter.
